    Win2K & Internet Setup

I'm setting up a machine that will be used as a 'MultiPurpose' computer. It will have software for which we have only one license. The users will be logging into this workstation and to NetWare 5 servers (using NetWare Client32 w/Workstation Mgr). How can I setup the machine so that each user...

Embarrassingly simple questions (for you seasoned pro's)

I'm a NetWare admin who recently inherited a small Win NT 4.0 network (which I'm really enjoying by the way). My questions are (simply enough): 1). How to I configure the HOME share to NOT show the other users directories? I removed the 'Traverse Folder' right from the Everyone group (but...

    Program Specifc Environments??

Thanks for the reply. I guess I was 'overthinking' this one. What I did was create a shortcut to 'command.com' and then edit the shortcut to point to the desired program instead of 'command.com'. I then created a text file with the SET commands and pointed the shortcut to it (i.e. AUTOEXEC.NT)...

    win2k slowness

Are you by chance attaching to a NetWare server? If so, it's the NetWare Client that's dragging you down. Check Microsoft support document Q269590. RacerX

    W2k and NT4 profiles

Have you added each machine to the domain (using C:\WINNT\system32\SRVMGR.EXE)?? This can also be done when you assign a domain in the network properties of the Win2K units. RacerX

    Program Specifc Environments??

I have a Win2K machine that I'm building for one of my users. We use two seperate versions of the same program. Each version has a license file that is located in seperate locations on our server. The way each version of the program gets to the license file is thru environment variables...

Administrative setup of Office 2000 SR-1

Jason, Were you able to resolve the issue? I ran it at home as a test and it did exactly what you said. I found things all over the place. Bad. There must be a command line switch to specify a destination. Thanks for your reply, Tom

Administrative setup of Office 2000 SR-1

I'm trying to run the administrative setup of Office 2000 SR-1. I run "setup.exe /a" from the Run command (I've tried this on both Win2K and Win98) and the Setup window opens. It says "Welcome to Microsoft Office 2000". Down under that it reads " Preparing to install...
