    Red Hat administration

    what are you trying to achieve within RH? have you tried linuxconf if it isn't installed, install it it does the admin of user accnts, network setup etc.

    is the OS running on NTFS? maybe you need to give access to certain dirs to the non-admins so they can "see" the progs before running them not an issue on FAT

    I have a 2000pro machine connected

    can the windows box ping the ip addresses on the net, and also ping the local addresses of the pc's on the network if it cant ping the local addresses, then the network setup on the 2k box may need looking into if you can ping local but not the internet, can you ping the router?
