Is there a command line administration tool for Red Hat Linux similar to smitty for AIX or sam for HP-UX?

what are you trying to achieve within RH?

have you tried linuxconf

if it isn't installed, install it

it does the admin of user accnts, network setup etc.

Unfortunately there's nothing similar to smitty or sam in Linux.
I don't know if linuxconf needs X but YaST in SuSE sort of works in text mode. Nothing comes close to smitty though.

Also, as I recall Redhat officially stopped using linuxconf in 7.0. I'm not sure the program still works for redhat. They give a whole bunch of other gui tools for you to use instead, and a couple of them have tui versions also. Oh, and as far as I know you do not need x installed to use linuxconf; it's a text based interface.
