While you are in the folders tab that xlhelp suggested, make sure all the other excel file extensions are opening with excel. someone may have saved one of your files as html at one time and no one has ever changed it back.

For the record I took your advice and looked at other ways to structure the pivot table. By using the contractor as the row, and the week as the column I get the info I need, thought not in the format I originally intended.

I have mixed data in a field that is queried from a excel 2000 table. Even after formating the cells as text, the cells that are inputted as numbers do not display in the query results. Only after I insert the ' prefix in the data field do they display. Is there a setting somwhere to modify this?
