During MemTest86+ v1.70 (latest with Win98SE boot floppy) for reliabilty testing in upgrading used RAM memory in a popular, redeployed IBM xSeries 345 (dual Xeon 2.8GHz, 8670-61X, 100MHz FSB, 2002 era with latest v1.21 BIOS (9Jun05), v1.09 ISMP) 2U rack server, the screen hung about 30 min into...
Hi, recently checked out the integrated RAID on an 2002 era xSeries box. The integrated Adaptec SCSI chip supported RAID type zero and one; stripe and mirror. We have a ServeRAID controller for RAID5. We have not tested running a ServeRAID running 5 and integrated RAID running type 0, 1...
Hi All,
Solved the ghosting problem! The printer is now working fine once again. Was able to repair the feeder assy using factory service manual that was on eBay. Disassembled and cleaned the feeder assy with removal of c-clips on shafts.
Actual solution was straightening the cam follower so...
Hi Macfleet
Try searching for a feeder assy on eBay. I have seen them for $25 when a damaged printer has been parted out. I believe that eBay SellerID camp_color had them.
No warranty, or guaranteed functionality as a subassy. But mechanical parts would be good.

Hi All,
I bought a Tek Phaser 740 Service Manual on eBay. There are a couple Sellers, but the one I got was from GovTechMedia for $12. It is not too bad, good for color laser theory and gives rough idea of where all the modules are and what they do. It does not go into real detail; not down to...
Hi John,
An UPS is NOT recommended for a laser printer, because of the high in-rush current, 10-15A, which UPS are not designed to handle.
To protect laser printers from lightning strikes or other industrial spikes and noise, I use a heavy-duty isolation transformers 125v-125vAC, such as...
Hi Gordon,
Thought so, check out raid.com , see cool Flash on raid.edu tab ;-)
In trying to have a partially used drive for the RAID-5, when you configure it, it will make all the others smaller too (at least with my IBM ServRAID I controller), thus wasting space.
Probably best to...
Hi Gordon,
Why are you using 7 logical drives with RAID-5??
Sounds to me you are making a RAID array inappropriately. Maybe you need to study up on RAID ;-)
IBM Server website had good stuff in it.

As described on your other post on ...Dreaming, I have 6 drives RAID-5 as one...
Hi Columbia Driver.
I think it is your RAID controller, might want to try with set at RAID-0 first. Also does your RAID controller have battery backup for its cache?
I have an IBM PC Server 704 / Netfinity 7000 which is based on the similar OEM hardware as yours, Intel AP750GX, whose website...
Hi, have a 740 that used to work, but now has 3” ghosting repeats and smeary images only on the right side of page. Have replaced transfer kit with new and cleaned the paper feeder with IPA. Have cleaned electrical contacts and bent the tabs so that intimate contact is made with the transfer...
