An UPS is NOT recommended for a laser printer, because of the high in-rush current, 10-15A, which UPS are not designed to handle.
To protect laser printers from lightning strikes or other industrial spikes and noise, I use a heavy-duty isolation transformers 125v-125vAC, such as surplus legacy Topaz Ultra-Isolation transformer that were used to protect mini-computers. Usually you can find them on eBay or a metro electronic surplus store for about $30. Mine weigh in about 30-60#.
If you need any further spike protection, put a heavy duty box like a Tripp-Lite with 3-way MOVs and coils in front of the xfmr, about $60.
