Has anyone had any problems with agents on clients for 2003.
I have a win2k box as a backup server and a win2k3 client server that needs to get backed up.
The agent install log shows up as successful but the service is stuck on starting.
This is the third server this happened to.
any ideas that...
What OS are you trying to backup.. XP? 2000?
XP has port blocking features that are standard, are any of them blocked.... 2000 has none..
Is this machine secured down? i.e. does User -System have full rights to all the files and is in the administrators group?
I don't want to say this but REG hack after you uninstall the agent. Go into the registry anything with veritas remove it. It will take some time but it should work. Your uninstall did not remove all components of the agent, so you have to manually remove all the items.
The go ahead an reinstall...
Not sure here need more info.. How are you setup?
Are you having some LAN issue's?
Another server full backup?
I cannot seem to find that error anywhere..
I did not think you can do a dcpromo on a NT4.0 box...
Host files yes I can see them but I have 100 + servers I don;t want to do that to them all.. and then reboot?
I will call microsoft again to reopen the case and see what they can tell me...
Still open to suggetions..
Yes I can only if I place the name in the run window, ping, and get a reply.. I have called Microsoft on the issue and they have me placing all WINS back on the machines and doing a nbtstat -RR but that doesn;t do anything except re-register the DNS entry.
Yes I do, in fact I have two NT4.0 boxes still around...
I don;t use them anymore i.e. dhcp wins
Should I take them offline? What difference should it make if I do.?
Our Company has upgraded our Domain Controllers to 2003 from NT4.0
We are still in mixed mode, now when we look at the Directory there are no computers in the Directory and in the network neighborhood there are some computers and servers not all.
From my extreme switch there are 6 Vlan's...
I have had that happen but, is it worth it at that point when you need the information "yesterday,"
I just took the SQL backups(non-veritas) and converted them over to SQL database's. I lost a days work but that was recovered but scripts I had running for transaction logs..
You need to...
