Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try the solution mentioned in the first URL and see if that helps in my situation.
The disks show no signs of scratching or marks when they are spit out (they are blank, brand new).
In the System Profiler I don't see if the drive is Super or Combo. All it shows is Matshita DVD-R UJ-857D ATAPI cache 2048 Kb. It does say that it writes to (among others) DVD+RW.
I upgraded to Leopard back in Jan. or Feb. and the laptop is about 2 years old. I will try other brands of disks...
I upgraded my Macbook to Leopard and since then I am experiencing a strange problem:
- Every time I insert a blank DVD+RW, the disk is not recognized and after a few seconds, it is promptly ejected.
- If there is data on a DVD+RW disk, no problem: I can see it, play the media, etc.
- There is...
My domain is native Server 2003 (12 servers, 4 DCs). I am considering adding another DC (in one of my off site locations) and I would like it to be a Windows Server 2008 64 bit.
Is there anything that I should be aware of before ordering this server? Are there any issues to be expected when...
The concern is whether I am not needlessly creating one more path for possible attacks (like smurf attacks, for example) by having an open relay on my mail server. Injecting packets into the network with forged IP source addresses is but one way to "fool" the relay into thinking that it is...
[b]mofusjtf[\b]: iVantage will run locally on my network; in fact I am dedicating a server to this application which depends on SQL Server and IIS in order to work.
[b]texnut[\b]: That's exactly what I was thinking...Their recommendation is to install the SMTP virtual server on the same server...
I've been tasked with deploying iVantage, a software for our HR Dept. One of the requirements is to setup an SMTP virtual server in order to enable routing and alerts from iVantage.
My concern is that this will in fact be akin to having an open relay on my Exchange 2003 mail server which will...
I couldn't find on the web any solutions related to my problem so I hope that I might get the right idea from this forum.
This is the situation:
- I have a member server (file server) running DFSR on a Windows 2003 Standard R2(SP1). DFS seems to work OK, but in the event viewer I see a...
I have shadow copy set up on a volume on a Win 2003 Server. I've dedicated 8 GB for the shadow copies (out of a total of 14 GB free space left). I've set up the schedule this way:
Start: 8:00 am
Daily
Every 1 day
Repeat task: every 1 hour
Duration; 24 hours
The VSC service is set on...
Use the "E-mail Test" (window at the very end of the page) at www.dnsstuff.com. Enter an e-mail address pertaining to the domain in question and test connectivity to it. See what the generated report says.
There are many tools to check SMTP connectivity between 2 domains, but this is the easiest...
Steven,
Thanks for the input. I've been having lately some issues with Exchange "locking out" on me all of a sudden and getting weird 419 event errors and thought to cover all bases, since I couldn't find any reliable info on this so far.
Oh well, I guess the search continues...at least it's...
No, no, no surfing on the Internet from the Exchange server (apart from the occasional checking of Windows updates). Just thought that it may add another layer of protection, but now I'm having second thoughts and that's the reason of this thread.
I have eTrust on this server and, as you...
Hi All,
I was wondering if it is advisable to install the new Microsoft Antispyware utility on a Windows 2003 Server running Exchange 2003...
I've researched this subject but coudn't find a definite answer so I wanted to poll this audience.
Has anyone installed the Antispyware on an Exchange...
It started about 2 months ago....every now and then the mail server is "down": the server itself (Win 2003) is up (pingable) but locked out. Cannot log in even with the administrator account. I have to shut the server down manually. When it comes back up, the logs are littered with events 8026 &...
Hello All,
Can anyone explain me how or why my firewall is alerting me of Sub Seven Attacks originating from my mail server (private IP address) and destined to the Internet (a public IP address)?
Does that mean that my server has a Trojan? I have anti-virus for Exchange installed on the...
This is my situation:
I have 1 DC in a remote location with a subnet 192.168.170.X
The router died so I had to replace it and while doing so, by mistake, we changed the IP of the DC (which acts as the DNS, DHCP).
All client machines are able to connect to the Internet but none of them is able...
I should begin by saying that I am new to Outlook Web Access. My question is this:
- We have OWA enabled on our Exchange 2003 and all is OK. When users log into OWA, they immediately get the username-password pop-up box. Once they log off, they do see the MS generic logoff page. I'd like to...
