Hi Everyone, I'm pretty new at Email Administration, so Please help me in my ingnorance.

I'm running MS Windows Server 2003 with Exchange Server 2003 system. I'm a single server setup company. Two weeks ago my users had no problems emailing a certain domain, and now No One can email the domain. I have message tracking on In exchange and the last two lines are:

SMTP:Started Outgoing Transfer of Message
SMTP:Non-Delivered Report (DNR) Generated

Administrator email sent to user says:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Message from <username>
Sent: 7/25/2005 10:24 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

<username> on
The recipient has been deleted or has no e-mail address.

For the life of my I have no idea why this is happening. PLEASE HELP ME. The user happens to be our VP of Client Services and this domain is vital to him right now. Thanks everyone for helping.

Use the "E-mail Test" (window at the very end of the page) at Enter an e-mail address pertaining to the domain in question and test connectivity to it. See what the generated report says.
There are many tools to check SMTP connectivity between 2 domains, but this is the easiest and it may provide you with some clues.

Thanks Pinkfloyd65 for the helpful tip. According to the email test, all MX records are connecting, but according my exchange server and the lady trying to get the email, nothing is going through. I've even telneted into the receiving domain and did 'ehlo and helo' commands and communication seems fine. Any other advice on why I wouldn't be able to email this specific domain.? I really appreciate all efforts to help me out. Thanks again Pinkfloyd65 for your response.

Any recent firewall or DNS changes? There are some known issues with the way Windows 2003 DNS works with certain firewalls and some domains in the way the MX records are resolved resulting in NDRs.

anawrocki,
Thanks a million for that information, I learned a ton of information. Problem is that even after running the dnscmd I still get the same error messages. You're brilliant, do you have any other ideas? Thanks again for the super post. It really had me hopeful for a while!

At this point I would be investigating the recpient side and possible spam filters.
