It appears to be the System Restore as System volume information is over 8 Gigs. My system restore never worked and I don't use it anyway (I just make an image of my drive).
Can I just delete the files in the System Volume information Folder?
What is system volume information. I ran aprogam called Treesize and it shows System Volume Information to be over 8 Gigs. Where can I find this folder and can I delete it ?

You had the right idea when you put your harddrive in a friends computer to try and get your files, but if you had your harddrive set in NTFS file format and your friends computer is set to Fat 32 then his machine won't be able to read yours without a special program to see NTFS on Fat 32...
Had this problem on a friends computer. This occurs when Microsoft netmeeting isn't closed properly. Rebooting doesn't help. Open netmeeting and the close it using the X in the upper right hand corner.
