We're on Networker 6.x, HP-UX 11.0, STK 9710 Silos. We're looking to upgrade from DLT7000's.

Make sure the NIC in the client has the same settings as whatever port its plugged into. In our data center all ports are locked at 100mB full duplex, so Network settings on the NIC also have to be at 100 full or we get the "inactivity timeout" messages.

If the tape is out of browse policy or its from another Networker system you probably need to scan the tape using the scanner command. Look in Networker man pages on how to use the scanner command.
