    6x16 and T Series

Thanks. I'll go ahead and order them soon. In case it doesn't work I'll make sure I go somewhere with a decent return policy.

    6x16 and T Series

I'm going to be throwing a T series phone into my 6x16 for testing. The documentation I have from http://candcenterprises.ca/norstar_docs/ shows that I need an M series phone. Does that mean I can't use T series at all? Or does it just mean I need an M series phone to program it, and I can use...

    Norstar 824

If your 824 is like my 616, then no. Although you might have some luck if you remove the casing. -ML

    Norstar M vs. T series

I guess I'll get a T7208 and an M7208, and we'll see which one is dead first (I'm counting on the M living longer than the T). Doesn't the 616 (with DR from 1991, "La Grande" - no idea which version it is since it doesn't say) require an M series phone to program anyway? I don't even know if it...

    Norstar M vs. T series

I never thought of that. The T series actually looks good when you *look* at it first glance but it seems if you look at it from the REAL side you find cheaper quality parts.

    Norstar M vs. T series

I don't want to start a flame war, but in your experience, which series is better, in terms of reliability, quality, etc.? (Just PLEASE no flaming!) TIA

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

That's stupid. Setting up a simple MAILBOX seems like one of the easiest things to do in the key system world. (On Asterisk, I believe that was adding a line or two to a config file) - ML

    Asterisk as MOH source

Thanks, that makes it much simpler because all I need to do is "reverse" that code.

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

I can definitely fully understand. I'm using the docs now to get info. I also am going to stick with an amp cable since it is easier. Thank you

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

I'd hire someone if it were a business, but I'm setting this one up to learn things and then I can go on to businesses. Once I get a phone and the patch panel/cable, it should be much easier to learn things (since I could actually use it, heh). One last question - does anyone find better call...

    Ext ring on PA

Well, what does Feature 60 exactly do? Does it dial *60 in DTMF? Or is it a weird voltage sent through the line? If you find out exactly what happens if you hit a Feature button, you might be able to do so. Actually, I know a Kohl's with a Norstar system and after-hours, calls will broadcast...

    Call recording

Thanks. I was thinking it might be the easiest and most cost-effective to use a spare computer laying around here since I've got a LOT of hard drives (a few 200GBs as well). Not sure how I could hook it up however.

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

Sorry to be such an idiot. I'm learning. I'm waiting on a patch panel and the proper cables and everything, and hopefully I'll be set up soon. Thank you! - ML

    Call recording

One thought I had was using a spare Mac (Power Mac G3 possibly, I'll need to check on that) to record calls. Is there a way I can set it up so the PM G3 has "all authority" on calls and can listen on any call? TIA

    Call recording

That's what I was assuming. I'd prefer to save them for at least a month, but even better would be if I could choose how long for each one. I'm thinking of "groups" Regular Calls: erase after 7 days Verbal Contract: Manual erase TIA

    Call recording

I've got a Norstar 6x16 (NT5B01) with a software cartridge I assume to be DR1 (it says 1991). Is there any way to do call recording on ALL calls? I want outbound to have a beep every 15 seconds (makes it legal to record without saying "this call will be recorded" on every call) and for incoming...

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

    Isn't a regular phone cable 4 wires? (2 lines)

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

I found a 6-conductor patch panel as well. Are there any additional features that are exclusive to 6-conductor? TIA (And sorry for asking such stupid questions!)

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

If I get a 48-port patch panel, can I do anything with the other ports (other than the 16 ports)? Thank you! - ML

The dumbest question ever - 25-pair cable

Here's a 16-port telco patch panel: http://www.cyberguys.com/templates/searchdetail.asp?productID=8290&sk=MC51730 Do you mean using something like that? (It's a 6 x 16, if that helps - I only need 16 phone jacks) TIA
