as you are working your workstation is running out of resources - ie RAM. ALWAYS save REGULARLY is the golden rule in DTP. Unfortunately a hard lesson to remember. DO NOT rely on Quark backup. A waste of time.

Here's the dodge...when you go to the print menu instead of entering 1-1 enter +1-+1 ... there you have it!

as you are networked, obviously, someone else could have the document opened (a product manager perhaps). "Save to" desktop, then desktop your file to the server.

when you supply to pre-press for output (print) you do not supply a Quark eps.
You supply the Quark document as a collect-for-output onto a cd or similar.
Plus, a Quark eps is a postscript file. All information is contained therein, except founts. This file cannot be opened in Photoshop...
