I'm 100% it's mtu related, i've seen a few hints on the web about mtu related issues with the cat4000. I've just enabled path-mtu-discovery on the routing card, not sure if this will fix the problem though... any thoughts anyone???
Hi,
I'm having problems getting a location to connect via vpn due to mtu problems through a Cisco 4000 core switch they are running. The location run some apps that work fine over the existing serial connection, but won't run over a gre vpn we are trying to install. The vpn portion of the config...
Sorry, I assumed you would already be thinking about ip routing over the isdn...
I would have thought ip is the solution, you are looking at routing traffic from one place to another, and routing is layer 3. IP is the most widely used layer 3 protocol. I don't know if you can encapsulate an isdn...
Hi Bruce,
I've set up a similar solution for Siemens HiComs. You can route X25 over ip with XOT, it's pretty ok to do, but you need a dedicated interface on the router for the X25 device, so don't forget to spec for this, also not all routers support XOT (X25 over TCP/IP). I know for a fact that...
I don't think you need to worry, it's just a warning after all, I get these as well and all my isdn stuff works fine, they don't stop anything working... Have you tested your dial yet?
Thanks landrew, I've bookmarked that link, I think I'll be using it again in the future... As usual with cisco.com, you've got to know the right question to ask, in this case a very literal search would have got the right page... leason learned.
Yep, that got it. Just as an extra bit of info, it turns out that the Zonelabs Integrity software firewall adjusts the mtu size on a per pc basis, hence the pc's with this loaded worked while the others didn't.
Result.
Hi bell1996 and dulem,
I've applied both your suggestions, and initial signs are good! I'm just waiting for one location to confirm this as I type. I kind of thought it would be something like this, but I was thinking QOS stuff... had a very hard time finding anything valuable on cisco.com as...
Thanks Dule, tried that but got the following message:
PragueTSN(config-if)#mtu 1400
% Interface Tunnel20 does not support adjustable maximum datagram size
Any ideas?
No, no drops, all other traffic is fine. Our proxy server is getting the requests and sending the replies, but the replies are timing out and getting retransmitted even though all routing is working (can ping & trace from site to proxy & vice versa). Just to further complicate things, I've found...
Need help.
I've got 2 locations terminating at a central location, both are using the Cisco 1712, and the central site is using a 1760. Both remote sites have a successful GRE tunnel back to central. All routing is fine, all network connectivity is fine except for SOME http. This is where it...
Hi All, Have issues with a 1700 runing 12.2(4). I am trying to hook up a modem to the aux port, (done correctly many times before! NOT being stoopid...). My problem is that there is no 'modem autoconfigure discovery' command available on this router/ios. I am using multitech modems in all...
You could use aaa localy if you dont have tacacs etc.
conf t
aaa new model
aaa login local
username XXXXXXX password YYYYYYYY
You need a username/passwd entered for everyone who needs to get on to the box, I'd do a default one as well, for your support guys (saves typing).
quickest way...
Use the media type command in int E0 to specify
either the AUI or RJ45 port.
This doesn't affect the other ports, just gives you
a choice of Eth. cable types...
