I did a disaster recovery install of Exchange on one of my test boxes. I set up a dummy IS on it to do some testing. I need to delete that IS but Exc wouldn't let me do it, so I nuked it in ADSI. Now I need to uninstall Exc on this box but it won't let me, it says that there are mailboxes on...
Background: I need to split up a 90 GB info store in order to run eseutil on it. There's only 40 gb free on this box and I don't want to do the defrag over the wire. So I am trying to break up this gihugic info store into 2 pieces so I can run the defrag locally.
Problem: this box is slow as...
Sorry to keep beating a dead horse here but...
If I did this, took the production server down, reset the computer account in AD, brought the new box up with the same server name and did a /disasterrecovery install of exchange, then restored the databases and mounted them...
what would the...
Thanks again, but I don't need hardware on standby. Let me try to explain again.
We are planning to migrate one of our Exchange servers to new hardware. The powers that be want us to test 2 different migration scenarios. We do not have a separate test forest AD, and they will not approve one...
I need to test migrating an Exchnage box to new hardware...in production.
I have a test box setup with Exchnage on it.
Option 1: Test using ADUC 'Move Mailbox' theory by creating a group of test users. This is a no brainer.
Option 2: Restoring existing information stores from current...
Ahhhhh...ok old timer then I guess you started Outlook with the /cleanfreebusy switch?
Other than that I don't have anything else to add.

I would check to see if you are scanning the M:\ drive with your AV software, this can cause calendar corruption. Also do not attempt to backup the M:\ drive.
I need to remove a server from our Exchange org that no longer exists. The previous admin simply unplugged it and reimaged it instead of using the CD to properly remove it from the Exchange org. This box no longer exists, it is gone. Do I have to rebuild this box and reset the computer account...
I am getting ready to migrate Exchange 2000 to a new server and in the process we are going to upgrade from 2000 server to 2000 advanced server. What is the best process for this? Can we do a /disasterrecovery setup on the new box even though we are changing the OS?
I am in the process of upgrading OS level from Win2k standard to enterprise to replace an exchange box that is on its last legs. Can I simply restore this box from tape to the replacement server? Or, should I build the new box and exmerge mail to it and then remove the problem server? The...
I am have some users that are having a problem synching the OAB. They have recently upgraded to Outlook 2002 from 2000.
Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x80004005) : 'The operation failed.'
Anyone seen this?
Check out dotcom-monitor.com. It sends mail to your exchange from 6 different servers around the world every 15 minutes, you can get it to check at faster intervals for more $$$. If you're queues are backed up it will send you an email (to an account other than your exchange account of course).
I inherited an Exchange 2000 box that services about 150 users and has about 140 GB of information stores...I know, I know...quotas are coming. Anyway, this box has never had any offline defrag and they have been through several DoS attacks, spam floods and major Exchange moves. Online...
What format are people using in the Outlook client? Outlook Rich Text and HTML formats support images in the signature.
In Outlook 2003, Tools>Options>Mail Format
I am looking for a tool to monitor my Exchange 2000 environment. I am looking for something that actually tests send/recieve and othe fuctionality via the MAPI client and OWA, not just a service monitor. Any one know of a good product for this?
I have a single box exchange of about 125 users and I am noticing that the connections made as SMTP queues are hanging around for a long time (like all day) after the mail they contain has been routed. It doesn't seem to be creating any performance issue and we never get over a few hundred...
