This works EXCEPT for the "9" capture on the ARS access code forces a second "9" to be entered to the dialing string (the dreaded 9-9-1-1 situation). Which leaves me wondering if I don't already have this situation with the old POTS lines. The first entry of the number "9" generates the line...
Thanks, Telecomboy. I am hoping to save myself the time and expense of reprogramming my four sites (3 of them with multiple cabinets) over to a MAGIX system. I will complete the programming change and test with the local authorities. I will post back here with my results. Thanks to all.
wireboy, thanks for the response. If I understand what you're saying - Even though the PRI is using Pool 70; it's configured to pass the calling ID number associated with the extension; the carrier (Comcast) has provided the location details for each of the PRI DIDs based on those numbers; the...
I'm faced with a mandatory deadline to provide E911 data from my several Merlin Legend R7 switches. Each has at least 1 old POTS (in pool 70) and a PRI in a pool numbered between 890-893. Can I just change the POOL on the PRIs to 70 and adjust my ARS tables to get the desired results or am I...
Problem Resolved..!!!???
In the course of the first conversation I’ve had with Comcast in over a month, I gave merlinman's switch type substitution to DMS100 a try. That had no effect, but one of their technicians asked me to change the switch type to Legend-PBX. I explained that was for...
realfoneguy,
Thanks for the contribution and the loan offer. I'd given this post up for dead and I've been working with merlinman outside of the forum to see if there's anything on the Legend I've screwed up. There're still a couple of things to test, but no luck yet. Forgive my ignorance, but...
I worked with a Comcast engineer this morning. If he changed the "Protocol Emulation" on their AdTran 908e from "network" (The IAD when connected to CPE acts as the switch) to "user" (The IAD acts as the CPE) and the D-CHNL came up. Unfortunately, Comcast's maintenance group warns that if set to...
Telecomboy, Do you have any phone technique advice for dealing with recalcitrant techs that insist that the switch programming is correct on their end?
Does anyone have any specific knowledge of bcuz789's specific resolution? I presume that they were ultimately successful in resolving the D-Channel error.
I agree that a switch type mismatch or incorrect programming on my end are the most likely problems with D-CHNL issues, but I've talked to 10 members of the Comcast installation team about this site specifically. They tell me they have limited switch types that they can use, but I've worked with...
If they hadn't programmed properly for 5ESS then the "test" switch wouldn't have worked.
I admit that they LOVE NI2, and it was probably my 5th conversation with one of their installation team before 5ESS was "saved" on their equipment, but it has been consistent for the past 7 conversations.
I have, meticulously, and had others review them as well.
Until the test switch worked and brought up the D-CHNL, I was convinced that the problem was on Comcast's side. After finding and reading bcuz789's post from 2008 yesterday, I decided to take the test one step further and test the AT&T...
Telecomboy,
Thanks for your reply, but ALL of my switches (including the "Test" switch I referred to in my post) are 5ESS. And before someone asks, I've confirmed that the D-CHNL hasn't found it's way into the B-CHNL Group or Pool.
thread689-1502433 "Trying to Port - D Channels not coming up" from bcuz789 Sept 2008.
The referenced thread above from September 2008 explains my problem nearly exactly.
I'm in the process of trying to Port our existing AT&T IPFlex PRI to Comcast (cost savings). I've successfully completed this...
TouchToneTommy, thanks. I thought I was going NUTS.
Unfortunately, instead of a range of 10 numbers, I'm dealing with the potential for 100 numbers and dialing problems from 2 remote switches. The CLEC hasn't suggested that there's anything they can do from their end (yet).
Does anybody know...
Tim, Thanks for the post...
I'm afraid I haven't clearly defined the problem I'm having, so I'll attempt to post some of the configuration w/examples of the results.
Under the old PTP T1, the Non-Local Dial Plan looked like this:
A Range Ptn Dgt
A 1) 1100-1299 01 04
A...
SYQUEST (Jim) - Thanks for the post...
The intent in moving from our existing T1s (PTP - DS1 Clear Channel interfaced to AdTran TSU equipment on each end of each T1 to split Voice and Data assigned B-Channels - NON-PRI) is to reduce our service costs, and take advantage of VoIP features w/o...
We've been using 4-digit station extensions and T1's to network 3 Merlin Legends successfully for more than 11 years. We're currently transitioning from these T1's [Legend-Ntwk] to AT&T's IPFlex BVoIP [5ESS]. The problem I'm having is with the adjustments to the Uniform Dial Plan (UDP) to route...
