Hey guys, hope someone can help me. Although there has been no changes that I am aware of, our SBS 2008 standard server no longer backs up. If I access the backup tab from the SBS console, it will sit at querying for quite some time, and then finally say "not configured". If I open the actual...
My boss is arguing with me that this is how it HAS to be done. He comes from the DOS and Win 3.1 days before the registry existed. I agree that installing to mapped drives and using it all over the network probably worked then, but he doesn't understand that it doesn't work now. Anyway, I'm...
Being that most software today requires the registry, installing software to a mapped drive will probably not allow the software to be used anywhere on the network.
Combined with the obvious performance decrease of pulling the entire application off of a mapped drive, is there any benefit to...
I can't seem to figure out this thing, so any help is appreciated. I understand that you have to pick the folders/files where the file agent sould be run. Why not just choose the root of c:, so that all files would be used by the agent?
Also, what values should I use for configuring? Also...
I am running the latest version of ArcServe (11.5). What needs to be configured with the open file agent? We just got this software, so I'm still learning it.
I am running full backups of our DC's, but most of them fail because of certain databases like wins, dhcp, .net, etc. that cannot be backed up. We have the open file agent, but it doesn't seem to help much. I also run system state backups every night which I believe contains the registry and...
I'm having a ton of trouble getting my File Replication Service running. Everytime I try to start it I receive the error:
Could not start the File Replication Service on the local computer.
Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start control request in a timely fashion.
The error is...
That requires clustering, in which windows enterprise edition is needed. They don't want to pay for it, and we don't want to have to upgrade all their servers to it.
I forgot to mention that clustering is out of the question as the small banks won't pay for enterprise edition, and we don't want to have to upgrade all the servers we already have.
Need some help figuring this out. I have a few small banks running on terminal servers in our office. We would like to find a better redundanct solution in case the terminal server goes down. Currently, we are just running basic backups and a raid 5 config, but if the mobo goes out, per say...
Hey guys-
I need some help with this. Almost every morning users are getting kicked out of the terminal server when they log on. After a few repeated attempts they are able to get in and work normally.
When the problem arrises, we get a few errors in the event log:
Event 1004: Reporting...
you are going to have to setup IIS and the web server for it. Then Turn off anonymous logins, and place the files you want in the wwwroot folder. There is also some options in their to redirect folders, if you want to share something on a file server, for example.
I'd go more in detail...
Hey guys-
I need some help batting heads on this one. Here's what we have got:
Two domains, trusted. Domain A has absolutely no problems talking to the other domain, Domain B. Domain B cannot talk to domain A ONLY from the domain controller. If I sit at any other machine on Domain B I can...
I tried the rename command and it seems to be reserved only for files, unless I'm doing something wrong. The MOVE command, is the key, now that I think about it! Thanks for the refresher!
For the life of me, I must be losing it because I can't figure this out, or find anything on it. I'm sure it's easy, but I'm asking for help now!
I have a script that copies my documents to a folder every night on a second hard drive, for backup reasons.
I want to set the script up so that...
We recently ran into a strange problem. For some reason, Microsoft Exchange Server doesn't show up under the windows licensing applet. We have a few other servers in our offices on separate networks, and it shows up under those. Has anyone seen this before, and do they know how to fix it...
