Cannot ping local server, by IP or by name

By return route, I suppose you mean a link between the two servers, as in a physical link? Theyre both connected to a switch, and the 2008 server im having a problem with can ping other systems plugged into the same switch.

Cannot ping local server, by IP or by name

Ok, having a real issue here. I suspect a DNS issue, but I cant nail it down. Just installed a new Domain Controller, added it to the 2000 domain, etc etc. All went well, AD replicated just fine. I have TrendMicro Client/Server installed on another server on the network, running server 2003...

    WMI/WBEM, just isnt there?

Hi, Im trying to configure a free network management utility called SpiceWorks (www.spiceworks.com) When running an inventory on your network, and getting a failure, one of the first tests they have you run is to run, from a command prompt: c:\wmic /user:username /password:yourpassword...

    Delete locally stored profiles?

Greg29, Read your thread, and while very informative, thats not the case here. My users log on and off correctly, they do not reboot.

    Delete locally stored profiles?

acl03, Yes, I realize that, but the OLD profile is on the NAS device, and the NEWEST (modified) profile is on the local machine. And when some users are logging on, they arent getting the new one, theyre continually using the old (local) profile. What I ultimately want to do, is delete ALL...

    Delete locally stored profiles?

On my w2k domain, I am using roaming profiles, stored on a NAS device. The profiles are also being stored locally, on each workstation. It seems like some of the profiles on the NAS device are much older than the stored profiles on the workstations, even though everyone is set to use roaming...

    TRAP Exception error on install.

Thanks, but.... To quote that page you linked: 1. Turn on the affected computer, insert the Win2000 CD, and reboot the computer from the CD. 2. When you see the Welcome To Setup screen, press R to repair a Win2000 installation and then press C to start the Recovery Console. And to quote my...

    TRAP Exception error on install.

Ok, so my PC started this nasty mess of getting stuck in a reboot loop. Just as soon as you would normally see the blue windows screen, and the services and all would start (before the actual login screen) it would reboot. No safe mode, no nothing...it would always just reboot on its own, at...

    "Roaming Profile" is greyed out?

Ok, maybe I dont understand or I didnt explain properly. I have 3 workstations, a domain controller, and a NAS device (stores the profiles), a user gets his proper profile on 2 of the 3 workstations, but, on both of them, its showing as a local profile. On the one workstation that does show its...

    "Roaming Profile" is greyed out?

Running a w2k domain, with w2k clients, from control panel -> System - > user profiles (on the clients), when I go to make a profile "roaming" its greyed out, and I am unable to select it. So "local" remains the selected option. Why? Its different profiles on different clients, I have taken...

    VNC in to multiple workstations?

OK, I dunno anything about VPN, and was actually reading a guide on how to set it up when these other replies came in. Currently I have a DSL gateway router, and am forwarding incoming connections on port suchandsuch to a static IP address on one of the workstations, so that my employee just...

    VNC in to multiple workstations?

Im trying to allow multiple users remote access to 2 different workstations on the local network. Currently I have the router set to forward connections to a static IP address, but this only supports the one system with the static IP. What I need, is to be able to set up VNC (or something...

    VNC in to multiple workstations?

Well, as its currently set up, users connect to our external IP, and get automatically forwarded to the only PC running the VNC server, but now I have another user whos needing to VNC into our network, and I need to send them to a different PC. So how do I set that up? At what point does the...
