    Moving Volumes question

    If this is the only volume in diskpool and you don't care if the data will be on disk, you can migrate all data on raw volume to tapes, delete the raw volume, then create the volume on filesystem.

    There is IBM Demopkg inside IBM that includes AIX and lots of software. IBM employee can order it for client, maybe you can ask IBM guy to get it for you.

    Zipping Directory

    Try tar command tar cvf <filename> <diretory name> If you want to zip it, run # compress <tar file>

    CDE on console not starting ....

    As I know, all the CDE start problems come from the network configuration. Check /etc/hosts remove the old hostname or add your new hostname that displayes by hostname command at the first line. Try it.

    Two way: 1: recreate /etc/security/lastlog # chmod 666 /etc/security/lastlog if works, you must apply new patch on bos.rte.security, I think. 2: # usrck -n all (check not fix) If errors, backup /etc/security, run # usrck -y all (fix)

    Maintenance Level...

    You can use instfix command Example: # instfix -i | grep ML the ouptut will give the Maitenance Level and if you have installed all the patches. You can use this command to check the status of all patches
