    Graphics Board Replacement

1.install device driver of GXT3000(right?) in 1'st CD of AIX via smit. 2.shutdown server, replace adapter. 3.boot up server. But I have not replace a different display adapter in a server, I think you will get a lft1(maybe), then you will need to reassign system console.

    Howto poweroff after shutdown

Does your server has a key to switch boot mode? If so, It is MCA machine, it is not able to auto power off. About PCI BUS servers, some early model before 7248 can't. How to tell? You push power-on bottom to power on server, the bottom stay in a lower position, it is early model.

7009-250 -- Up to live again

Your machine are 7012-3BT and 7011-250, right? Here are my answers for your question: 1. Both of them do not have a cdrom, But you can attach a externam SCSI CDROM to install OS! 2. Install OS do not need any passwd. 3. Leave AIX 3.2.5 tape in trash can. it is useless. 4. If you use image tape...

I am using a hard disk from 43p-140

If you install a bootable disk from 7043-140 to 7043-150, It may not be boot due to hardware kernel is not match. You have to restore 7043-150's image tape or boot form AIX CDROM then restore 7043-140's tape.

    HA4.5 on Aix5.2

As IBM told me, You have only way to solve it for now. Setup a static route .

    Daily check activities

lsps -a ===> to check paging space if over 70% topas is much better then sar for daily check.

    HA4.5 on Aix5.2

If you have 2 default G/W, I suggest you use static route to make sure your request go to right G/W. In my case, a server(AIX 5.1) missed for a while in network----but not for all, someone can still see it in network. In the last, I found it has more than one G/W. netstat -nr show it send...

cascading cluster with shared NFS filesystems

I have read you hacmp.out, and you configuration. Did you had NodeA takeover to NodeB manually? or by reset power? I think you shoule use SMIT or command. So NodeA can log these message. In you config ,This line is something strange, "Filesystems to be NFS mounted...

    HA4.5 on Aix5.2

Do you setup hardware address takeover? If not, you ping/telnet with your ARP table (right IP/ wrong MAC address), network device needs time to find out a new adapter(different MAC address) take this IP.

cascading cluster with shared NFS filesystems

first, I have to say sorry about my bad english, I know few words only. If there is any reply to make you unhappy, PLS be calm. Return to our topic, Let's clear what in my brain, NodeA mount all FS, and export some FSs as NFS server. NodeB mount NFS as a NFS client. Is that right? One of my case...

    Which RS/6000 machine?

If you want to learn more about LVM, B80 is better choice (if it's price is good). Because it have 4 hotswap disk bay,If you buy 4 disks. you can practice item below in same time without destory any thing(at least it is minor). rootvg mirror/unmirror,replace disk. datavg mirrot/unmirror,replace...

cascading cluster with shared NFS filesystems

The NFS you want to switched between 2 nodes, It must be: 1.On shared disk, otherwise it can not be takeover. 2.Only ONE of nodes can be NFS server, others can not mount the NFS(be NFS client). It is basic needs. Your situation looks like at conflict with second point.

cascading cluster with shared NFS filesystems

I suggest you stop use NFS(export from nodeA) in nodeB, If you can. Your probelm I have met once, I felt it like a dog try to bit its tail. You can use NFS in HACMP,but just export it, other nodes in this cluster never mount it.

    boot failure on rs6000 43p-150

Try to fsck ALL filesystem in rootvg then reboot your system. But I wonder why you use logform to hd8, It will format jfslog, adn clean it. I am afraid it made other filesystems can not be fixed.

    mksysb install problem

Did you clean new disk before restore rootvg? >put this disk which in new F40 in CWS F40,(they has hot swap backplane, easy to do it). >Make a VG on this disk then export it (for clean disk).

    shared storage for HACMP configuration

Third party SCSI disk array that support 2 hosts,( DAS ). Dothill SANNET II disk array, ( SAN ). I have installed both two type disk array in HACMP, All of them can work fine.

    mksysb install problem

F40/F50 is 32 bit CPU, That is right. AIX5L has 32/64 bit mode,it can be installed on a 32bit machine. Both Marksmen's source/target machine are F40. So we do not need worry about 32/64 bit. But my concernt is some change of hardware such as CPU/adapter and so on. so I sugget he boot from...

    mksysb install problem

I have a idea (and it worked before). put this disk which in new F40 in CWS F40,(they has hot swap backplane, easy to do it). Make a VG on this disk then export it (for clean disk). Move this disk back to new F40, then restore again . (I sugest you boot from OS CD,then restore tape) It may...

HACMP - 4 Port Ethernet Card

    I have checked some documents, they said HACMP 4.5 support #4951 IBM 4-Port 10/100 Base-Tx Ethernet PCI Adapter (9-Z) (on 32-bit CPU server,such B50,F50) But F80 / 6F1 (64-bit CPU server) can only install #4961 Universal 4-Port 10/100 Base-TX (A-E) (check back of your adapter, to see 9-Z or A-E...
