i agree one central install point and load complete package, so that patches can be easily deployed withou running around to every system to insert the CD.
We linked it to one user account, so my guys just login as that user and it runs the office install script.

stop ftp and web and smtp service.. cut and paste teh whole inetpub directory from c:\ to d:\ then go into IIS admin and chagne the home folders from c to d: and your done.. oh yeah turn the ftp/web smtp service back on
dont put the internet based dns server in their IP, use your internal DNS server and in the dns server properties turn on forwarders and put in the ISP internet DNS servers there.. you will run into security and resolution problems

we had 2 exchange servers, 1 FE OWA/bridgehead and 1 regular corp back end exchangeA server with mailboxes and public folders..
Both win2k and exch2k.. latest SP's
we built a new server (exchangeB)to upgrade our corp BE server.. 2 months ago..
migrated all mailboxes...
sort of ,
you can set up one smtp with relay restriction for receiving mail from internet, one for relay outside the network, and one for receiving/relay email that comes in from clients on the road...
these all need Public IPs that are different except for the internal to outbound smtp...
it is dangerous to open this up, but in exchange you can set up virt smtp servers... which you should do.. one will be a no relay and accepts all incoming mail for your domain.. the other can have stricter relay rules, that will allow you to send thru it.. each virt server has a different IP...
he is right it is reverse dns issue, hotmail and aol, recently implemented strong antispam rules ... and will do a reverse dns look up to make sure the sending server is legit...
yes but we are experience major cacheing issues..
we moved exchange 2k to an newer server, moved mailboxes, and set replication of public folders to the new server..
Microsoft says it should take a few weeks for all replication, then we shouldbe able to bring the old server down...

basically system boots.. everything is OK.. then XP pro splash screen then goes black... hear a quick power off then reboots...

and or what i have had runing for years now
basically add the extension to you r domain name to specify your internal domain... ie
my domain website is xyz.com my AD internsl is boston.xyz.com
keep the 2 dns seperate... the dns server that handles xyz, never...
