you could use Norton's Ghost (http://www.symantec.com/sabu/ghost/)
it makes a complete copy of your drive image to another drive. try that out. it is run in dos so you should be fine. Taylor

try another mouse...the electric components seem to be a little out of whack. sounds like a hardware problem because if you "play" with the mouse, it seems to fix...just go pick up a $9.99 mouse or borrow one and see if it helps. Taylor

before returning, did you completely fdisk and format the disk yourself or did you let the xp setup program do it? i would get a startup disk, boot to DOS, and fdisk and format that sucker. then, reinstall xp and see what happens. those messages are usually correct, but, they can mislead at...
i know a few people in the past that have had problems like this but i attributed it to ME. its a piece of junk and if the format doesnt work (or after ME messes up again in the future), save up and buy 2000 or xp, or just downgrade to 98 SE. i think you will be happier Taylor
