Hi ALL!
I'm now working for a new company who outsources IT services, including e-mail (I used to administrate networks at my previous jobs). The IT company has Exchange servers off-site that they use to host e-mail for multiple companies.
This IT company is trying to have me use Outlook...
I had everyone's blackberry this monday kick back that it needed to be updated, even though they hadn't changed it. (Using BIS and OWA, Exchange 2007)
Didn't know why it needed "update" but haven't had problems since then...
...on their phones.
They aren't fancy enough to need synchronization, which I assume the Blackberry professional software provides, so I know that you can also use OWA with the Blackberry Internet Service (which is what I wanted to try soon)
*let me know how you configure yours!
Thanks,
Chris
We have a Windows 2003 server hosting backup exec 10d. We would like to move it to another server, so I've installed a fresh install of BackupExec and also recreated the same B2D folders that point to the same shares as the old installation. After running inventories and catalogs of the media, I...
OK found the problem. It was one of two things that I changed. First, I found out that the VPN client inherited WINS server settings from it's VPN server, so I made sure that the VPN server had itself as a WINS server (it is our WINS server).
Second I also enabled Netbios over TCP/IP on the...
With a Windows 2003 AD environment, I have XP clients VPN'ing into our VPN server, but the WINS database is not updating their IP information.
For example, on my test computer I VPN'd in and recieved an IP of XXX.XXX.XX.76. I looked in the WINS database and found that entry. However, the next...
I am having difficulties with our VPN server (which also hosts dns, dhcp, and WINS aka small office). It continues to publish its PPP adapter IP address into the DNS periodically, and I've made some changes in the registry to stop this publishing..
But I noticed in the WINS that the IP of the...
...disk, however none of our spare, scrap machines have 72GB disks (only 36's). How can I wipe the data off this disk using the other machines?
**We were thinking of popping in SmartStart, then swapping in the disk, so the array wouldn't try to rebuild... and then maybe finding an option to...
What's the best way to delete printers w/o opening Printers and Faxes? Because I can't open the window without the spooler service already crashing.
Thanks for the response!
Chris
There are two Windows XP workstations having print spooler problems. When the service is started, opening Printers and Faxes will bring about an immediate shut down.
Event ID 1000 spoolsv.exe and event ID 7031 and 7034 are logged.
A number of sites and forums said to remove any .SHD and .SPL...
Atomic,
While I too have no specifics as to what is broken when dcpromo'ing an Exchange Server, I worked in a situation very similar to TNGPicard's and my test environment was quirky after uninstalling AD from an Exchange server.
I'm not sure what your setup is, but if possible it may not be...
By non-domain, i mean the computers that are on no domain, and are in workgroups. We have contractors in the office using their own computers. I'm assuming there is no way for THEM to be listed in DNS or something that will allow us to hit their machines via netbios and not IP?
Thanks,
Chris
So if I allow nonsecure dynamic updates on our main forward lookup zone of mycompany.com, non domain computers will appear in zone as well, even though their FQDN is NOT comp.mycompany.com?
Thanks,
Chris
Dave,
When the the user attempts to log on, does his computer send his user ID to the nearest Domain Controller, or to a domain controller in the users's domain. I understand that next, the Global Catalog Server is contacted to provide the Universal Group list; but which server is the...
Hi all,
In a windows 2003 environment, how can I get computers who aren't in the domain to be listed in DNS? I see them listed in the reverse look up zone in the appropriate subnet defined by the DHCP...
Is there any way to configure the DNS so a domain computer can ping a non-domain computer...
Hi John and TheLad,
I am actually trying to do the same thing here with a disk array at our office. It currently has 12 - 18GB disks in it. We would like to swap them with 36GB. Can we swap one at a time and allow for replication, then later go back into the array configuration utility and then...
Hi All,
We have two domains at two sites in a Windows 2003 forest environment.
DomainA has a Windows 2000 domain and is the root domain, and DomainB has Windows 2003 AD AND Exchange 2003 servers. The two sites are linked most of the time with a dedicated site-site VPN.
When a user from...
