Print Spooler Keeps Shutting Down

There are two Windows XP workstations having print spooler problems. When the service is started, opening Printers and Faxes will bring about an immediate shut down.

Event ID 1000 spoolsv.exe and event ID 7031 and 7034 are logged.

A number of sites and forums said to remove any .SHD and .SPL files from the Spool directory, but in each computer there are nothing in those directories!

Also checked the Print Server and found no errors there in the event logs.

Delete all of the printers, then add them back one at a time until you find the problem one. Odds are it's a driver issue.

What's the best way to delete printers w/o opening Printers and Faxes? Because I can't open the window without the spooler service already crashing.

Thanks for the response!

Delete them from the registry.

Is it a Shutdown, power off, or a Shutdown and Restart you are seeing? If it is the latter, disabling Automatic Restart might produce a BSOD with further information therein?

Anything in these similar sounding posts?
