Hi All,

We have two domains at two sites in a Windows 2003 forest environment.

DomainA has a Windows 2000 domain and is the root domain, and DomainB has Windows 2003 AD AND Exchange 2003 servers. The two sites are linked most of the time with a dedicated site-site VPN.

When a user from DomainA is at SiteB trying to access Exchange, he is UNABLE to unless a VPN connection is open to siteA, from which the user can have authentication access to the domain controller in DomainA.

Must the domain controller for domainA be present for a user in domainA to access Exchange?

Thanks,

Chris

I would say place a DC for domain A in site A.

Thanks Paella,

Yet what happens to the Domain Controller for DomainA if the VPN between the sites is dropped?

Thanks,

Chris

Nothing special. It will give erros about replication, but after restoring the VPN that should catch up.
