I just was at a customer who had upgraded to IE 6 and then couldn't log into certain secure servers. This on win98se.
So it seems it effects all Windows.
I couldn't find a solution.
She had gone back to IE 5 but still no fix.
I even installed windows over itself.

A customer is having problems with attachments in her Netscape email program.
If she gets a wmv or wma file and attempts to open it, it will try to load it into windows media player, but a MediaPlayer gives an error saying it cant play the file, and a blank NS browser window opens behind it.
If...
Problem is though, it is not just windows update.
It is also a secure server at the customer's bank website.
If I ping the site it won't respond, yet it will in netscape.
IE6 wont view the page.
Yes, the automatic update program will say it found updates but the only time I tried to have it download the updates it didn't seem to work. It looked like it never downloaded the updates.
A customer's system XP running IE6 will not allow windows update to run. It says that the security settings will not allow ActiveX Controls to run.
I have set it to allow everything and it still happens.
This began because the customer wanted to get onto her secure bank website and it says the...
I have a win98 HD boot up to 98, on another HD I have XP.
Once in windows98 I can't see the XP HD.
Is this normal?
If I booted to XP would I be able to see the 98 drive?
Is there anyway to solve this problem without reformatting and installing XP again?

Can't get into any safe mode of any kind.
Always returns to the blue screen...
I have been researching this and can't find a lot on it.
Figured someone may have seen this before and know a fix.

For anti-virus I use Grisoft's AVG 6.
You can get a personal use copy free at www.grisoft.com.
All anti-virus software will let some through, just be sure to check for updates once or twice a week.

I am guessing this started happening after IE was upgraded to version 6?
If so I would suggest rolling IE back to previous version and see if the problem goes away. A lot of problems have been noted on IE 6.
I am looking for a good program that will work on as many versions of windows (also DOS) as possible and allow me to make complete hard drive backups. Mainly for the purposes of making a backup of customer's systems so I can tranfer the content to a new hard drive without losing anything.
I (of...
