All is well
Took Symantec and Microsoft on a conf call to resolve
CAUSE:
======
The sqlvdi.dll file that was registered was unsupported per Symantec.
RESOLUTION:
===========
1. We extracted the files from KB913100
2. We unregistered ALL copies of sqlvdi.dll on the machine (versions...
I think the stub is for user directed restores
IE: they click on it and it initiates the restore and thus replaces the stub.
If the backup admin restores it, it would make sense that the stub remains as they are 2 different file/msg types.
I do not have email archiving installed but from what...
I broke out my SG's into separate subclients
SG1 - SG4 and I get between 50-60gb/hour on each
I run the concurrently and they are all about 200-220gb.
Are you running them all as a single job?
You should break them out if so
Do you do disk staging? or are you dumping straight to tape?
Hope...
I have a active/active cluster with 4 total instances (2 on each node)
2 instances are SQL2k ad 2 are SQL2k5
The SQL2k5 instances work fine but the SQL 2k instances are giving me the below errors
INF - BACKUP STARTED USING
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2191 (Intel X86)

it all depends on multiple factors:
media size
Compression used
multiplexed or not
amount of data on media
But 20 minutes is great!
I have seen it take an hour or more.
the commvault SQL agent issues only Microsoft API commands to SQL so... whatever the "backup XX database" command would be in SQL native, is what CV issues to preform the backup.
If you look in the SQL log (Client) you will see all it does it change the destination using VDI. It issues the...
if you are sure you want to use them and they have no valid images on them, just highlight the ones you want to use in the netbackup volume pool and right click...select change... then select new pool=scratch
It will move them all into the scratch pool for use by future backups
I run hourly and every other hour tlog backup on my SQL
Or you could talk the DBA's into doing a local dump using the native SQL backup. then just pickup the tlogs when you do the file system backup at night.
I gave all my maglib space to the DBA's and had them mount it to the local SQL...
I have to split my NBU environment. I have a media server in 1 state and a master server in another. How do I promote the media server into a master and still retain all of the historical data on tape?
Getting the media server to be a master is not really the problem, it is keeping the prior...
It takes me about 2-4 hours backing up 8 SG's in our 2 exchange 2003 clusters. I do disk staging then aux also.
I run each SG as its own job and run all 4 sg's concurrently
I get about 45-60gb/hour. Each SG is about 180-200gb
The main thing I found is that a dedicated NIC is needed if you are...

Storage units and storage unit groups.... are the policies you are trying to use for the job set to use specific STU's?
Or are they set to any?
I think there are some bp.conf files or registry settings that will allow this job to use specific STU's.
But not knowing the exact way your devices...
I only use Spill and fill on Maglib media agents
For instance I have 2 media agents with 4 mount paths each to SAN storage. Each is 1TB and each is a data path for that media agent.
I have it setup to fill and spill on these (Mostly SQL and Exchange brick lvl backups)
My tape library is set to...
