Is it worth moving the system database data and log files from the default location on the c:drive to the disks set up specifically for sql server data and log files?
Thanks

Hi,
I have created second data and log files for tempdb on a seperate disk to the originals.
Does anyone know whether SQL Server will use the first data and log files until they are full and then move on to the second files?
The idea is to use the second files as 'overflow' files.
Thanks

Thank you all for your help.

The hard drives are regularly defragged and checked for errors.
The system in general runs fine, it's just when all disks are in use there is a bottleneck, which I thought an addtional disk controller...

Sorry meant to say:
It only lets you backup the tran log for a database (without using NO_TRUNCATE) with a corrupt datafile when recovery mode is 'Simple', which means a transaction log back up is pointless anyway.
