Check out this site. I am in the process of modifying his perl script to make it more generic (i don't use DiskSuite too much). It's based on the flar component of the Jumpstart technology and walks you thru creating a bootable cd.

Ponetguy2,
SunOS, 5.8, Generic_108528-16 is the latest patch level (that I have evaluated). -15 is pretty new but you might consider upgrading the one at 108528-10.

This is nice. It has a lot of stuff in one document. It may be too much for every server installation but it's a good memory jogger at build time.
Thanks Gideon!
It stands for flash archive. Here's a nice introduction article:

There are some special considerations if you are using DiskSuite or, especially, Veritas.
Two other things to consider. Do a find on <.netrc> this is a control file for automating ftp sessions. This could point you at the user that's doing the job.
There could also be a recursive <at> job - maybe started from a /etc/rc?.d script.
Also look at flar. It's a part of the jumpstart suite. It'll allow you to create a "golden" install image. After that's installed you can set the server specifics on the reboot.
Sounds like the nvram battery is dead. Here's a link with stuff on the Sun nvram. I've used it quite a bit on the older pizza boxes.
