I feel this is a bonehead question, but...
Is there a 'how to' on creating a middle-tier DLL somewhere for vb.net?
I'm taking my application to the next level - I want to break out some of my code into a dll - so that I can also use it with an ASP version.
I've never written a DLL before -...
I used to use a serial analyzer for this, but no longer have one - and am under the gun (of course).
I'm trying to capture output of a program through the PC's com port. Is there any way to redirect this data, before it hits the com port, to a file or printer?
Thanks!
Mike
I'm not sure which forum to post this on - this one seemed most logical, but please feel free to point me in the right direction.

So having setup the test account as an Administrator is different than a Domain Admin.
Do Domain Admins have control over the PCs they are logged into, where Administrators do not?
That is, I setup my user account as a member of the DC Administrator group - but could not take control of my PC...
Ok, this question pertains to a previous post.
If I have a user setup on my domain, and this user is in the Administrators group -- shouldn't he be able to execute tasks on his local computer without complaint??
For example, shouldn't he be able to install softare, run ipconfig/release from...
Actually, this has become extremely frustrating. Maybe its because I'm a developer, rather than a system admin - but I can't understand why it wouldn't be less complicated to assign a user, or a group of users, as administrators of their own machines.
Are there really that many different types...
Thanks.... the site helped explain it .. but I'm trying to make sure I edit the correct gp. On the site you sent, it shows the GPO Editor - and the first key is "Restricted Groups GPO".
I started MMC, and using the Add/Remove Snap-in, I added the Group Policy Object Editor - but by default, the...
Ok, I found Computer Configuration in the Group Policy Object Editor - then was able to drill down to:
Windows Settings | Security Settings
and found "Software Restriction Policies", but no "Restricted Groups"...
Is this something I have to add?
I basically want the users to have full...
We have a AD installed on our 2003 server. When trying to install security updates, and other software, on local PCs the user has to be logged on as the Administrator. We'd rather let them install onto their own PCs - but we don't want to give out the admin password.
I know there's a way for...
I'm just looking for some recommendations here - if you may.
My division (IT) would like to integrate a handheld (barcode scanning) application into a current web-based (ASP) product.
Currently we provide a web based system to the users for validate outgoing shipments - our users would like...
I'm not sure that you're going to get much response to this message; being that its a reply to this thread that I started a long time ago. We never went down the ISDN path so I'm unfamiliar with your situation and can't be of help either.
I'd personally recommend reposting this to the boards...
MSoffice 2000
We have an excel spreadsheet that shows us information about our clients.
The data is displayed in blocks, that can easily be given a named range.
We want to send a letter (msword) to each of our customers and display the
data in these blocks (from excel).
How can this be done...
These folks are using a DOS application - which seems to be brutal on the connection as it is.
I found a DOS utility called TAME - installed that, and the problems was resolved quite well.
hth, -Mike
No, actually, disregard that "nevermind".
Cyberfreek ....... wouldn't you suspect that to be the FIRST thing I'd have tried??? ARGH!
Folks, look back and do some searches, this isn't an issue needing an idiots guide. I've done the simple fixes, I've even done the technical fixes. This is an...
Ok, I've setup a bunch of networks, been in this industry for years - I've done all the basics -unless there's something totally bonehead that I'm missing, the basics have been completed. Folders are shared, and permission on those folders haven't changed - I've installed several new xp boxes...

No. I meant to state that before - there is NO firewall installed, or enabled (XP firewall).
