Hi I am installing 2003 server on a single machine with just one domain, and I have a question about the DNS,. Currently our domain is hosted elsewhere and we will leave it like that for now, but later want to get exchange to run on this server. So, should I use domain.com as my root domain...

    Cisco Aironet AIR-CB21AG

Hi again. I have managed to get it to connect using Windows Wireless Zero Configuration, both un-encrypted and WPA. But the Aironet Desktop Utility can't see anything. In fact, all the buttons are greyed-out. Any ideas anyone? Many thanks again.

    Cisco Aironet AIR-CB21AG

Hi all Having problems with the above card. I can get it to connect to a wireless access point unsecured, but using WPA it won't authenticate. Having checked the Cisco site, it says a LEAP certificate is necessary to use it - but I can't believe this card can't use WPA. Please could someone...

    Faxmodem and answerphone

I am trying to use an answerphone and faxmodem on the same line. The answerphone should answer and allow the caller to leave a message, but if it is a fax machine calling, then the faxmodem should answer and Winfax 10 receive the fax. The problem is that this only works sometimes. The rest of...

    Remove Wallpaper when System Locked

Thanks for your reply. Your first sentence is exactly what I am after. Sadly your idea doesn't help, as I have already ensured that users must press CRTL+ALT+DEL before logging on. I think you might be right in that this is a "by design" sort of thing, but I have seen software advertised...

    Remove Wallpaper when System Locked

Hi To clarify... By "locked" I mean when you CTRL-ALT-DEL and select "Lock Workstation", or when the screensaver cuts in and is password protected. At the moment, the wallpaper is visible when you return to the workstation, behind the "Press CTRL-ALT-DEL message to unlock". What I want to do...

    Athlon XP 2700 vs. 2800

Hi all Can anyone tell me why a 2700 should benchmark faster than a 2800? MB is Asus A7N8X-E. Sisoft tells me the 2700 run at 2.17GHz and has a 256k L1 cache, whilst the 2800 gets 2.09GHz and has a 512k cache. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Switch connection

Thanks, but *wow* are the 3750 / 3550 expensive! Would I be ok using a 2950? We're not talking massive amounts of data transfer here - this network is currently all on hubs! Thanks again.

    Switch connection

Hi I have to install some switches to provide about 150-200 ports. I was thinking of using Catalyst 2950s. Using one as the "master" I would connect each other switch to it. Any comments on (a) is that the appropriate kit, and (b) is that the best way to connect them? Many thanks

2 domains over WAN not browseable

I have 2 domains, one at each end of a WAN link. I can ping the other side ok, but can't see the other side in windows explorer. This is a pain since I'd like to be able to access folders on the other site. Similarly if I connect to our VPN from home I can't browse the network. Any idea what I...

ISDN RAS error 651 -uplug cable fixes

I have a problem with a TA on a Windows 2000 machine. After about 24 hours, the ISDN dialup starts to fail with error 651. If I shut the machine down, unplug the cable from the ISDN wallbox, plug it back in and reboot, it works again (for about 24 hours). Unplugging the cable from the wallbox...

Installing Windows 98 over Windows 2000

To reset the BIOS, you will need your motherboard manual handy. If you don't have it, do a search on the web and try to get it from the manufactuer's web site. Read it and find out what jumpers is used to reset the BIOS (alternatively "clear the CMOS"). Usually the process involves...
