OWA with Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 transition - Single Server

I think Zelandakh has it. There is no way to have my Exchange 2007 server proxy requests for both mailboxes located locally and mailboxes on the remote Exchange 2003 server. If the CAS role is installed separately on another system, it might work. Oh well, I was trying to avoid setting a new...

OWA with Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 transition - Single Server

We are a small company with several domain controllers and a single Exchange 2003 SP2 server. We are starting to move to Exchange 2007 SP1 on a new Windows 2003 x64 server with the CAS, Hub, and Mailbox roles. Outlook Web Access for Exchange 2003 is available to most users over the internet at...

    Redundant Web Server

It depends on the web server (Apache?) and the type of content. Is it mostly static pages or mostly database driven? In the past, I've worked with groups that simply rsync static pages between servers at set intervals or when they are updated. Database connections present a little different...

3745 with 36 port switch module

That's exactly what I thought too and basically what I did. The only exception is that I have the 2924 VLANed because I have two completely seperate networks I need to support but only have one switch. For consistency sake I've named them VLAN 33 and 34. But aside from that the 2924 is...

3745 with 36 port switch module

fa0/7 is the uplink port. It don't necessarily want to trunk multiple vlans between switches. Basically I need a group of ports on the this switch to talk to vlan34 on the router. I could just as easily use this whole switch in VLAN1 and connect it to the switchport on the router. From...

3745 with 36 port switch module

vipergg I'm back with more confusion. I've got connectivity to the above setup but having problems with pinging through. Background. We have a Cisco 2900XL switch with multiple separate VLANs. There is no communication between the VLANs no do we necessarily want any. I am plugging the Cisco...

3745 with 36 port switch module

vipergg, Thanks for your help. My coworker most graciously pointed out the error of my ways in one word - crossover [cable]. Off to bang my head on the wall for missing the most obvious.

3745 with 36 port switch module

Thanks vipergg. I've done that already and cannot get the line protocol to come up. I was hoping there was another quick config change I needed to make. Is there anything that needs to be done to allow the switchport to communicate to the VLAN across the backplane?

3745 with 36 port switch module

I have a Cisco 3745 with a 36 port switch module. Is it possible to create multiple vlans and assign the various switch ports to the VLANs? If so is it as simple as: int vlan10 ip address 10.1.10.1 255.255.255.0 int vlan20 ip address 10.1.20.1 255.255.255.0 int fa4/0 switchport access...

Automated server monitoring - pls help !

We are using GFI Network Server Monitor to monitor 25 servers and it works great. Nagios is an open source tool that can do the same thing but takes more time to implement. ServersAlive is another Windows tool.

    Monitoring Tools

We recently installed a CX500 with 45 drives and I am now looking for monitoring and reporting tools. Does anyone have any ideas on good monitoring tools? Ideally I would like to be able to graph disk, LUN, and port usage over time. I would like to be able to alert on errors. If I can do...

    Performance Tuning and Planning Question

So, if I want to capture all the inserts, updates, and deletes on all tables, what events should I trace in Profiler? SQL Statement Completed? How is the information saved to a table? Will I be able to query for all inserts on a given table and count them? Thanks for the help

    Performance Tuning and Planning Question

Does anybody know of a way to get statistics on the number of selects, inserts, and updates per table in database for given period of time? I am looking to separate tables into distinct filegroups running on separate disks. Thanks

    Forestprep error

Alright, after a little digging in the "Exchange Server Setup Progess.log" file I found some items I could search for on the internet. Specifically, forestprep was having a problem with the Default Global Address List. It did not appear in System Manager and had no permissions assigned to it...

    Forestprep error

I am running Exchange 2003 "setup /forestprep" on our domain controller, which happens to be the Exchange 2000 server. Towards the end of the forestprep, I get the following error: "Setup failed while installing sub-component in Microsoft Exchange Organization-Level Container Children with...

    Monitoring a Sonicwall

Windows 2000 DNS Stops Resolving Domains Not In The Cache

There are a number of reasons we don't use forwarders. Mostly historical. At the time we setup everything we didn't have an upstream server to which we could forward requests. The servers were also our main DNS servers so root hints seemed to be the way to go. I also think, root hints is the...

Windows 2000 DNS Stops Resolving Domains Not In The Cache

I'm not sure I understand the question. The DNS server is setup with our domains and it uses root hints to get to the root servers. It does not use forwarders.

Windows 2000 DNS Stops Resolving Domains Not In The Cache

Thanks for the reply. There is nothing in the eventlog outside of normal zone transfers. Traceroute works just fine. Restarting DNS fixes the problem, but that's not exactly a robust solution. The server is setup to use root hints and seems to just start ignoring the root hints.
