Remote VPN access
Do we need a VPN client software?. And also, do we have to use our public address anywhere?. How would we access remotely?. I am just not sure about Address translation. Public to Private(LAN), but how would I get the public address?.- ashu6

Burt, One other comment was for confreg '0x' works both on rommon or Router(Config) mode. So you can use it either way. Anyway, I have saved the config and reinstalled the router. Seems to be up and running. Thanks -

Hmmm.. well I don't work with this, just found one in the lab and want to use it probably to learn it. Break - ROMMON - change the confreg to 2142 and reset... now when the router boots back it is in Router>... anyway i will dig into it. looks like need to find someone who worked on this stuff... -

Burt, Thanks. Silly not to mention, tried that as well. For some reason it still does the same. I am using PRP-1 cards by the way with 12.0(27)S4. I have even taken out the redundant PRP. Thanks A -

Can someone tell me how can I break the enable password for cisco 12000?. I have tried the traditional way by BREAK'ing the boot and changing the confreg to 0x142 and then reset. For some reason it does not work. The router still boots as is instead of Router>. Any suggestions?. -
Difference between IOS and IOS-XR
Can someone tell me what would be the major difference between IOS and IOS-XR on a cisco router, apart from both have different interfaces, XR probably have extra features and UNIX interface?. Can you use XR on both edge and core routing?. -
What do I need to test frame relay with cisco router?
Yes you can use 2503 router to practice Frame relay configuration. But remember 25XX is legacy now, use 18XX or 28XX if available. Telcos usually sell frame relay to businesses looking for a cheaper alternative to dedicated lines. Mostly used from the edge to the customer, or used between... -
Do I need to set up TFTP on second switch?
I would suggest you to use solarwinds tftp server, I think that is a pretty effective tool. -
