Sorry goombawaho, the "notify me" button doesn't seem to be working for this thread. My user can scan to other file formats than JPG now, even without the two programs that didn't install, so she's happy. As for contacting HP, I've read the horror stories people have posted about dealing with HP...
Thanks Goombawaho. I have the correct installation file and I tried the Run as Administrator option when I was getting the first DLL error. Not sure if I tried it after tne initial fix and I started getting the second DLL error. I'll give it a shot first chance I get.

I'm having trouble loading the software for an HP Photosmart 2575 All-in-1 printer on a newly loaded Win7 64-bit machine. I'm using the lastest and greatest downloaded from HP's site. The error I get is "HPSLPSVC64.DLL failed to register" and the installation rolls back before...
Thanks for the input. I came across Spyzooka while researching a spyware problem for someone - a thread on another site where someone had the same problem and said that Spyzooka solved it. Glad I decided to ask about it here.
Has anyone here tried Spyzooka yet? Everything I've read about it makes it sound like it kicks butt. However, I'd like verification from folks at tek-tips who have tried it before laying down my $30. Thanks.
BadBigBen, you are the man. That did not occur to me even though I know the dx2000 line has been going for a while. Ours are 4 or 5 years old. I did go from a 1.06 to the 1.17B. I went into HP's revision history, found the 1.09, and it worked like a charm. (I also like the fact that it creates...
Clearing the CMOS does no good. I've tried replacing the battery with one from another machine but no joy. I'll try a new one just to see but I don't think it's the battery; it retains date and time. Funny thing is I tried setting a setup password and it doesn't stick. Hmmm.
I'm working on an HP dx2000 minitower with a bad hard drive. It wouldn't recognize the hard drive I tried as a replacement and, since I could find no reason why it shouldn't, I downloaded a BIOS update from HP to see if that would do the trick. To make a long story short, I pooched the flash...
We are trying to add a W2K member server to a 2003 domain. We can map to other (2003) member servers but cannot map to the DC's, although we can ping them. When we try to join the w2k server to the domain we get an access denied error. We believe that the problem is occurring on the w2k side...
We are running Exchange 2003 and, ever since the last updates from Microsoft, outbound mail containing attachments is not going through. We are also running IronMail and, using telnet, we can see that these emails are not even making it to the IronMail server. Anybody know if a Microsoft update...
We've recently acquired an IronMail box that, from my understanding, only allows a user to email no more than 500 recipients at one time. There are times when a user might need to email up to 2000 recipients at once. Someone told me they thought there was a way to configure Exchange (or maybe...
Does anyone know how to change the format which AD uses for display names? It's always "firstname lastname" which is not ideal. I can manually change the display name within the account properties to "lastname, firstname", but is there a way to tell AD to do this automatically? I haven't been...
Have you tried running a full scandisk on C? (By that I mean checking off "Automatically fix file system errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".) Sometimes that will work.
Anyone have a clue on how to remove an SMS client? One of our domains is still running Windows NT with SMS 1.2. We have some new HP laptops running XP and whenever they are logged onto this old domain and the SMS client is loaded, on re-boot they lockup. The logon prompt comes up but the...
That may well be (that the WAN miniport drivers have nothing to with video) but if I leave the add-on video card inside the system, I get WAN miniport entries in Device Manager and the system won't boot except into safe mode. If I take the add-on card out and go with the onboard video, the...
Got it fixed. I emailed Dell technical support before I posted here, just to see what they had to say, and they suggested removing the add-on video card. (These systems came with integrated video and a separate PCI card.) I don't know why the add-on card would cause the WAN Miniport entries in...
