I was offered a position doing 24x7 and the pay was as follows.
An extra full days pay for each night on call
For a call out - additional - 2 x hourly rate from the minute you leave home to the minute you return plus fuel allowance.
I would have taken it but budget cuts got rid of my job...
The Great Britain bit includes N. Ireland.
The Ireland bit is Eire.
That's always been my understanding.
It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
Oddly, it was/is the System process.
Between System and System Idle using up 25-35% CPU each at all times.
This is a little off the original thread topic. But it's my thread so I don't mind. :-)
Splendid. Have a star.
Actually since this post the server has gone to hell in a handcart.
We had to fail the cluster over because for some reason both processors decided to run at a constant 55-75%.
Server is now going to be rebuilt tomorrow.
Oh well, at least Im not going mad.
MS does have a KB article letting you know how to put Photo Editor back though - not that it makes taking it without warning ok !
Not wanting to defend MS but surely they have the right to add/remove components from their software as they see fit. It does...
Have you tried to pathping any of the affected sites ?
I've seen this before and found a downed router.
Some (rubbish) ISP's routers won't find a route round a downed router leaving some parts of the internet unreachable.
In past experience if you can get a name off the router that's causing...
Have you done a tracert ?
At least then you can find what switch it's on. Might help in narrowing down the location of the offending machine.
The other option, depending on site size and NOS is to check the Security Logs for Logon/Logoff events. Trawling the logs you will (eventually) find the...
If they purchased an upgrade copy of Office it will remove/upgrade the previous version.
Therefore making it appear 'deleted' to the user.
Or have I gone mental ?
I went for an interview for a position advertised at 30-35k GBP. Found the position on an agency website. Sent in my CV for the job because from spec I could do it with my eyes shut.
Spoke to the agency and said I would be happy between 25-30 as my last position paid 21. Went for an interview...
Try this on for size.
A company I used to work for (keep reading) hired a network consultant to carry out an evaluation.
Surprisingly he thought the network was a steaming pile of cackola - he was right though. So he gets hired to design and install a complete new network - servers, switches...
I was going to use PerfMon as a fallback.
Spot on with the diag though.
The company I work for is of such a size that in Central IT there are 30-40 Microsoft employees permanently assigned to our company.
Central IT took the lead on this issue and MS are running constant performance and...
Sweet Jesus. 4.1 mill ??? God bless America
I don't eat lunch at my desk because for some bizarre reason some users seem to think that if Im at my desk during lunch they can ask me about problems they have with PC's at home.
Talk about pet hate.
I never fix friends PC's. Plain and simple...

Hi All,
I have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server cluster.
Comprising 2 Compaq DL380's and an MSA 1000.
One of the servers in the cluster has developed a memory leak causing the cluster to fail over every 4-6 weeks.
We have identified the error 2020 as the one which points to the imminent failure...
Hi All,
Just started a new job where we have a couple of MSA1000 raid arrays running.
Two questions.
1. Can you mix and match drive sizes, for example, 7 36.4Gb, 7 72Gb ?
2. Is it possible to reassign some of the space ? Here's the scenario. One MSA 1000 in a cluster with 2 DL380's. The...
