Is there a way to check if a udp port is woring ? I have a server in a dmz on which I'm having problems getting NIS to work. The firewall guys claim the ports are open. I can test the tcp ports used by NIS using telnet but how do I test the udp ports ?

We have some 650s and 850s and we've havent' had any major issues. Of course all the current large Sun servers are made by Fujitsu - Mx000 series, of which we have quite a few and they are pretty stable.
