Oh yah one other thing i have the Windows XP Firewall and i let ports 80 and 3306 go thru ... but it didn't let my PERL / CGI pages connect ... then i just shut off the firewall ... which still didn't let them connect- PiratesFan

Hello perluserpengo , Okay , I think I am making this too hard , and that I might not need Apache at all. Thanks for trying to help out , the whole reason I am doing this is really because I want to set up a MySQL server on Windows XP to accept remote access ... you see my web hosting people...- PiratesFan

Hi Wishdiak , Ummm I believe my server is directly connected to my ISP network ... this is my home PC ... I use DSL to connect , I got an installation disk and a DSL modem from my ISP that hooks up to my computer thru a USB port , thats about the most I know about networking hardware ... i...- PiratesFan
