1. Why would you want to separate inbound and outbound traffic like that?
-- Costs maybe. Different vendors offer differnet prices, right?
2. Can't you use either of the T-1's for both inbound and outbound traffic?
-- Might be able to. Depends on what the provider is giving. Most likely...
Yes you can use the existing CAT3 for digital phones. The only difference between is the IP Office uses RJ45 connections instead of a 110 or 66 block. So you may want to setup a new patch panel to connect to your existing wiring.
Yeah it appears that you need SIP for use with MS Communicator 2005. Since IPO doesn't support SIP phones we are out of luck. Office Communicator 2007 is entering Beta shortly so I bet Avaya will wait until that is finalized.
I'm about to setup a test network with an IP406v2 and Win2k3 and LCS 2005 to try out the integration. The documentation is awful, so does anyone have some words of wisdom on how to configure the LCS part?
I want to use MS Communicator exclusively. I don't care about Phone Manager Pro (PMP) or...
It might make a difference with the type of phone. I just tried on a 6424D+M and it drops once only 1 user is left.
When I set it up on an analog polycom it got a different result set. When I dialed the internal extension and was the last caller, it automatically hung up (same as 64xx)...
SuperJenks, thanks.
I am interested to find out if it could be carrier specific as well. If I get lucky I will be able to bring my 406v2 to my PRI and test to see if it carrier or Avaya.
Not sure about the clocking since it doesn't affect my other installation. The 412 has the issue and the 406 does not. So the only differences are: carriers, 406 vs 412, and dual port vs single port.
Both my IP406v2 with single PRI card, and my IP412 with Dual PRI card have the same settings...
From the Manager documentation:
"Dual port T1 PRI trunk cards are only supported with the IP412 control unit and in Slot A of the IP406 V2 control unit."
I guess I could try swapping them, anyone else try this?
I have a dual PRI card on a 412 system. It is installed in slot B and I have 4 analog in slot A (not active). The PRIs would not come up after a restart, but they do come up if you unplug/replug the cable. Crazy and very inconvienent as you need to be on-site to reboot.
