I just installed a dual PRI card in our IP412 and now the stystem will not boot. The 412 flashes green then red and then scans the expansion ports. It keeps doing that cycle.
Did I miss something. I'm in a huge hurry to figure this out.

Take box apart and CAREFULLY look at pins on T1/PRI card - veryify that they are correctly seated to motherboard. If still no joy, put it back how it was and see if it boots.
Mike

Thanks,
It boots without the card installed. No pins were bent, everything looked fine. Was there something else that needs to be done when adding a PRI card?

I tried the card in slot #2. That didn't work either. Now I pull the card and the system won't boot. Some days are hell.

OK,
It booted up without the card again. whew! I'm not going to try again till I figure out what went wrong.

either the card was incorrectly installed (unlikley as you have now tried it twice) or it is faulty
obtain a 2nd Pri card & try again

Thanks IPGuru,
I almost lost my mind. I was near panic when the 412 went into it's endless reboot cycle.

There isn't any software that needs to be installed in manager for the 412 to boot with an added PRI card is there? I did not do the initial installation. I'm wondering if there is a bin file needed for the PRI card that might be missing. Can that be true?

We are using version 3.1 (48)

Thanks,

There is no additional software needed for a Pri card, plug it in correctly & it will work (unless as we suspect it is a faulty card)

Well, no good news here. I got a second dual T1 expansion module and installed it. But, the phone system will not boot when the card is installed. We experience the same problem with the new card installed. This is making me think that either I'm doing something wrong, or the IPO412 box is defective.

Here is the sequence it runs through with the card installed: (on the IPO412
Power light is red
Each port is scanned (leds light up one at a time from left to right)
Power light turns green and all port lights go off
Power light goes off and all port lights flash once
The power up sequence begins again

Got any ideas?

Thanks for the help,

Oh, one more thing. In the IPO412, we have the voice compression module and a modem 2 module. I don't know if that would have any effect on this problem.

Thanks,

Might be a problem with the motherboard on the IP412 try getting another control unit and see if the problem goes away.

I have another IP412 coming. Hopefully, I can get it going with the new box. I think there is something tricky about the first boot of an IP4xx, in that the IP address is at some default setting.

I have the exact same problem with a 412. I have a single PRI card. When I hard reboot the 412 it wont boot up. When I pull the Connection to the PRI card, it works. This is obviously not an Isolated incident. I had avaya onsite with me looking at this problem. They said they would send another 412, but i think seeing your post tells me that another 412 wont help.

SuperJenks,
That is VERY interesting. Now I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to make it work. I've already invested in the Dual T1 card. The new 412 should be here in a week. I'll post again to let you know if it worked.

Sounds good. I just left a msg for tier3 that other business partners are having the same problem. I am also concerned because Im on the schedule to replace the 412 or pri card this coming tuesday and it probably wont fix the problem. I think I might hold off until some more testing can be done on this. Unfortunetly, i dont have a second 412 to test with. I think Ill have t3 test it for us. I will follow up w/ another post as well if I hear anything...

I have a dual PRI card on a 412 system. It is installed in slot B and I have 4 analog in slot A (not active). The PRIs would not come up after a restart, but they do come up if you unplug/replug the cable. Crazy and very inconvienent as you need to be on-site to reboot.

Recently I discontinued a PRI, so I now have 1 on the same dual card. Same issue exists.

I have a 406v2 with a single PRI card and it reboots fine with the PRI coming up right after, lucky since that is remote based.

From what I have read, the Dual T1 has to be in slot A; or so I thought. I'm sure not getting a good feeling about this.

From the Manager documentation:

"Dual port T1 PRI trunk cards are only supported with the IP412 control unit and in Slot A of the IP406 V2 control unit."

I guess I could try swapping them, anyone else try this?

Well, that makes 3 of us all having the exact same problem. Im betting this is a software or code issue on the 412, not a hardware issue. I will continue to update this thread when I hear something.
