That's unfortunate because my integrated solution operates off of the GND*.DBF files from grind.exe process.
It looks like I will have to get a production key at some point to do real testing outside of this production location I have access to.
Here is my batch file I'm using:
@ECHO OFF
SET IBERROOT=Aloha
SET LOCALDIR=C:\bootdrv\Aloha
REM SET CALIBRATE=C:\Aloha\bin\calib.exe
SET EDCPATH=\\TERM2\BOOTDRV\Aloha\EDC
SET TERMSTR=TERM
SET TERM=1
SET NUMTERMS=1
SET SERVER=TERM2
SET MASTERCAPABLE=TRUE
SET SERVERCAPABLE=TRUE
SET...
I've got Aloha Manager up and running with full menus, etc.
When I execute FOH batch file iber.exe tries to find the file server for 30 secs then goes to another screen to create file server.
Here is my lana config: http://i.imgur.com/tSYv470.png
I'm at the last configuration of this I...
OK, I will get a copy of their NewData folder from the client. What is the best way to get the data without having corruption or data missing? Before start of the day? Is there any services I should shut down first? Any documentation out there on how to go about this the correct way?
Also...
Thanks for the reply!
I created a shortcut on the desktop with /remote, see image here. Still has the 5 min lag when logging in.
I do have a database from one of my clients but it's just the EOD grind and doesn't include NewData. Do I need the NewData folder or can I restore from just what I...
I'm still having no luck. I've went back a few times in checkpoints on my VM and trying a few things but still have an issue running iber and I believe Aloha manager isn't working right either. When I open the Aloha manager, I login but it takes about 5 mins of "unresponsive" before it allows...
Thanks for your quick reply. I've changed the batch files to what is necessary for my VM system and also disabled simple file sharing. There is a system share for BOOTDRV pointing to the correct folder. I'm assuming setup created that.
Here is the end of DEBOUT.01 file:

I missed that section, sorry, I've been bouncing around on different threads trying to get as much info as possible.
I got the batch file setup, configured lana, and now it runs iber, but when it's initially open it counts up to find fileserver and then finally it shows "Looking for fileserver"...
Got it! Thanks!
Edit: I tried to run iber for FOH GUI to login as an employee to open tickets, etc like a normal terminal would operate but I get an error "Local terminal not specified" and it exits.
Thanks for all your help.
I have installed Aloha and have the manager up and running but I don't know the default user/password for manager. What would it be for version 6.5 or 6.7?
Thanks for the informative post! I'll give it a try (might be some time from now, I'm still focusing on other POS platforms but have started doing research for Aloha now) and let you know if I hit any snags with this. From what I understand is you setup a VM for BOH and on the same VM you ran...
That is much better.
I went to the live site yesterday and ran grind. It ran in about 5 seconds and I saw the files it updated.
I took a copy of their backups to look into the DBF files more. Do you know of any documents out there that explain the schema relationships and definitions...
I only have access to a site that is live.. I will not be touching this file at all as I've already read that it's encrypted and something you don't want to touch.
Are you speaking of the trans.log or some other log files? Does Aloha do any auto purging of older log files to avoid running out...
Thanks for the info on grind.
Do you know of any risks involved with processing grind on an faster interval?
How long does a typical "grind" take to complete?
Thanks for your help!
This is an interesting way to look at it. But like what PosGuyUS said, you would need an additional system to read the data from the cables, or if there is some virtual COM driver that will create a COM port for the POS to write to and another COM port for my software to read from, it might be...
