Try the basic things first.
Check the stats on the 2900 and look for collisions, late collisions, and other error stats.
Make sure that your duplex on each end of a link matches.
Check how your spanning-tree is operating (if enabled). Is there any means by which a redundant path exists...

Do the VLAN numbers on both switches match? Are the VLANs in question "allowed" on the Cisco trunk port?
