cisco switch and novell 4.1 1

We are using winnt server and novell 4.1 as well. I connected our windows clients to a cisco 2900 switch,.
i am able to work with my windows server but the novell login scree is not displaying pls help for this issue.
If i connect this pcs in the 3com hub i will get everything.
the problem isonly with novell, ms exchange, sco unix everything is working.

Clients (end stations) on switch ports: You can also issue the set spantree portfast command. This is done on a per-port basis. The portfast variable, when enabled on a port, causes the port to immediately switch from blocking mode to forwarding mode. This helps prevent time-outs on clients that use Novell Netware or that use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to obtain an IP address. However, it is important that you do not use this command when you have switch-to-switch connection. It could potentially result in a loop. The 30-60 second delay that occurs when transitioning from blocking to forwarding mode transition prevents a temporal loop condition in the network when connecting two switches.

I am using a 2900 catalyst in one of our dept and it is vlan
9(1stfloor) the connection to that is comming from the core switch
5500 using fibre patch and it is in 2nd floor but the performance of the switch 2900 with in the dept even very slow. Can anybody help me to make it high.
