    ip-codec-set x question

FYI I learned today that with CM 1.3 the encryption is "AEA" which is proprietary, but with CM 2.0 it is AES. Are there any bandwidth considerations with the encryption? Also, what is G.729 A and AB practically speaking? Thanks!

    ip-codec-set x question

Hi All, I know that there are codec sets 1-7. What I'm curious about is why there are 7 entries within each ip-codec-set? Is everyone out there using encryption? Also, what about G.711 vs. G.723 vs. G.729? As I understand it, G.723 only needs 6.3 kbps plus overhead each way. But even the...

What controls the allocation of IP routing through a Medpro?

I know that with CM 1.3, if all the C-LANs are in the same region, the endpoints register to the respective C-LANs in a round-robin fashion. What we did was to separate one C-LAN and MedPro into its own region--we only have one MedPro but 4 C-LANs. Then the IP address of the C-LAN is...

    ip phones---4600 series

On my 4620 I can press options, then Log off, which is the 5th button down on the left. However, on the 4630, I believe one would press mute, then 5 6 4 6 3 3 # to log-off.

    reset meet-me-vdn necessary--why?

Hi All, Today, when anybody tried to get onto a particular Meet-me conference through its vdn and vector, they got a filled to capacity annc. (meet-me-full) When doing a status meet-me-vdn xxxx, the service state was active, with no connected ports. Until we did the reset, the vector seemed...

    VoIP Trunking

Hello, I am a newbie to VoIP but I have come across these numbers: The MedPro handles 64 phones or trunks under G711, 32 with G729 or G723. The number of sockets supported by the C-LAN is 442. Where I am unclear is when resources are freed-up, for example, apparently they are when 2 IP trunks...

C-LAN socket load balancing, congestion etc.

Hi All, we are on CM 1.3 and recently set up one (1) 4620 phone. We have 4 C-LAN boards, used for Intuity Audix, CMS, and administration via ASA. In the documentation, Avaya says that prior to CM 2.0, there is a round-robin algorithm which can result in a skewed distribution of endpoints among...
