I use ASA R1.10.11 and have about (30) 4606 and 4612's. Here is my question---when I have a user depart on a digital 6408 -- I can TTI the number and replace it with a new number--

How do I do this with the IP phones--anyone ever done this before---it has to be simple----or do you just have to reprogram the phone from the station

hold l o g o f f #

type that sequence on the phone..

Logoff #????? this is on a 4606, 4612 or 4624.

On my 4620 I can press options, then Log off, which is the 5th button down on the left. However, on the 4630, I believe one would press mute, then 5 6 4 6 3 3 # to log-off.

Press the hold button, then spell "logoff#" with the number keys on all non-touchscreen models.

So if I do this--then it asks to logoff? What is next--do I get all the options to scroll through and make changes to, in particular the number? How do I log back on? hold logon # ??? or just unplug and plug back in

Read the 46xx ip telephone installation and lan administration guide.. it has the codes

BuckWeet

I read that manual but it doesnt address what I was looking for Buckweet---however I did find more in the manual called 4600 IP Phone Installation

Manually Creating Extensions
If installing without auto-create enabled, then VoIP extensions and associated users must first be created in IP Office Manager.

I dont have IP office manager and the phones I am programming are the 4606, 4612 and 4624---these manuals talk about the 4610sw 4620sw and the 4630sw

So am I in the wrong world all together

But we all agree that an IP phone can not be TTI'd and that the extension has to be programmed into the phone software.

thats the IP office manual, you need the multivantage manual..

The phones use more PSA than TTI

When you do the hold logoff # thing, it'll take you back to a extension # prompt..

all the codes for the IPphones are typed out on the number pad..

so you do hold (type out logoff) then hit #

BuckWeet

so the Multivantage manual applies to the 4606--4612-4624 ip phones?

I was looking for a way to simplify how we move users on 4620 phones and this thread was the closest that I could find. There has to be a simpler way so I hope someone can show me the obvious.

Today we move VoIP phones by have the user take their phone with them when possible. If they have to leave the phone behind for some reason, we have a technician stop by to to the logoff command and to enter the new number.

Instead of a visit we want it all to be remote with the minimum of user typing/mistakes. Ideally we'd install every IP phone with a temporary number and then do the equivalent of a port swap remote. The problem is that the VoIP phone remember their original number unless you type the RESET or LOGOFF commands on the front of the phone. We've tried lots of tricks but none have fit the bill yet. How is everyone else doing this?

stlouis1,

try to change extension's security code and then busyout/release it. upon receiving release request the phone will reboot but will be unable to register with the gatekeeper.
