I'm using Wise for Windows Installer 4.2. I remember that when adding system DLLs, it used to prompt me to use a recommended merge module instead. Nice. The problem is that it's no longer working. I've looked through preferences and checked the WISE kb, but no luck.

I don't know if anyone's still checking on this one. But you need to copy settings int the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current version\Devices to the HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT....\Devices. Same for PrinterPorts along same path as above. Make sure you copy the values exactly.

Go to computer manager. Select the user you want to share and bring up the properties. Select the profile tab. Enter the local path (eg. c:\inetpub\ftproot). Turn off anonymous access in IIS. If you give everyone full permission to the ftproot and it's subfolders, this configuration will allow...
Right click on the inetpub and go to the security tab. Give everyone full permission and allow this to be inherited to the subfolders. If this fixes your problem, then you know it's an NTFS permissions issue. One you have that figured out, you can restrict permissions from there.

2 things you may want to try.
1. upgrade to service pack 6a for nt4.
2. verify permissions on the IIS folders. The default IIS user is IUSR_<computername>, I think. I'd start with giving everyone full permission and throttle down from there.
