Primary and secondary servers do not work in the client fashion with grc.dat files ni that respect. If I was you I would do the follwing to fix your environment. Without knowing how many clients and servers you have, this will be very basic.
- Install 10.1.6 on one server as your primary...

You cant set this on a machine by machine basis. You must set this at the group level and affects every system in the group. It sucks, I know, sorry.

If you wanted it to be a secondary server, then during the install you were suppose to select to primary group, input the username and pass, to make it a secondary of that group. What you have done it, installed SAVCE to a server that is now apart of a new group called XYYZ (2). Once you unlock...

I dont understand when you say "I don't know how to extract to a floppy from xxx.exe". All you have to do is download the file to you hard drive. Place it somewhere simple like c:\. type 26r0650.exe a:\
from the command line. Press enter about 14 times and read the license...
this error could be because of alot of things. My AD gurus recently made a chage to our GPO under user rights assisments that hosed my WSUS server and I recieved the same message. All of my research to fix this issue came from MS$ website as well as my second favor forum www.wsus.info/forums...
BTW, you may not even need to delete the two. It is impossible for both services to have the exact same name. it appears they dont. so your batch file could e as easy as:
sc stop "BPS brio_platform2"
sc stop "BPS brio_platform1"
sc start "BPS brio_platform2"
sc start "BPS brio_platform1"...
you can use the sc.exe command from the resource kit. Unfortunately, i dont know of a wat to change the display name without deleting and recreating the two services. play with sc and see if you can figure it out. I can help additional if need be. I know i could delete the two and recreate in 2...

glad everything is working out. if you stop the symantec server, then drop the grc.dat file, then start the service, it seems to speed up the process a little but is not neccessary.

the easiest way is the force the value to either all caps or lowercase letters, but that may not be the baest way if you need the data to remain in its current condition.
$a =~ tr/a-z/A-Z/; #change all letters to CAPS
$a =~ tr/A-Z/a-z/; #change all letters to lower case
