I setup a DFS namespace and replication on 2 2008 DCs. Everything seems to be working fine, but I noticed after setting this up that I never installed the DFS role in Server Manager.
What am I missing by not having this role, and will I mess anything up by installing it after the fact?
Let's say I run LiveUpdate on my media server and as a result it installs a bunch of patches/service pack.
As a result, it also updates the remote agent and puts the the patches in the "update" folder within "c:\program files\symantec\backup exec\agents\raws32"
My question is this. When you...
Thanks for good tips guys. So far no luck.

Sure enough that PS command returned nothing. The only group membership for this user is Domain Users, a distribution list, and a security group that is common among all users (with nobody else having this full access)

I have a very challenging issue here with a user (User1) who appears to have full access to everyone's mailbox. However checking the following does not show any permissions that would give User1 the full access. I checked:
-client level permissions from Outlook(mailbox level and all...
Are you using a snapshot backup? I know in Exchange 2003, if you have a snapshot backup from using the AOFO, it will prevent you from restoring to a RSG. I'm not sure if that changed in Exchange 2007
I'm running a backup job (11D) for Exchange 2007 using the Exchange agent and the AOFO is NOT selected, however when I look at the job log, it shows that the AOFO is started and using a VSS snapshot.
I do NOT want a snapshot backup, because this will prevent the ability to restore to a...
I have an SBS 2003 server that I want to replace with 2 new AD and Exchange servers. In other words, I want to move away from the SBS environment altogether. However, I do want to keep the existing AD forest. So I have a few questions.
1. Can I add a regular Windows 2003 Server as a domain...
Group Policy Results show the policy is enforced OK and I see plenty of SceCli events so all looks good there.
When I even look at the screensaver tab on the PC itself, it is greyed out with the password protect box checked, which shows the GPO is working.
But for whatever reason, the...
I have a GPO to enable a screensaver and autolock after 60 minutes. I have two PCs where the screensaver comes on but does not autolock. I verified using gpresult that the policy is being applied. Also if the user logs on to another PC, the autolock does work.
I thought the problem was power...
Hello
We are looking to implement a fax server solution using a PRI line. I am trying to get an idea of how many channels are appropriate for our solution.
We need about 40 dedicated fax "lines"/DID's. Are we looking at a full 24 channels or is that overkill?
I've seen a scenario that I can't figure out. I was at a client such that when user's Outlook profiles are created, instead of entering an Exchange server's name, the internal domain name is entered, and when you click on "check name", it is able to resolve the domain name to the user's Exchange...
I was looking at the MS comparison chart between all the Vista versions. They only compare Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate.
How does Enterprise fit in featuture wise vs. Ultimate. I assume it has more features than Business, but does it have everything Ultimate has?
Are you saying I won't be able to run OWA on Exchange 2003 or RPC over HTTP?
Also in this scenario does the MS 314649 article regarding mangled attributes apply to me?
I have a Windows 2000 AD environment with Exchange 2000. I am going to install Exchange 2003 on a new server (Windows 2003 member server) into the existing organization and then decommission Exchange 2000 after the mailboxes and everything else has been migrated.
However, we will NOT be...
I want to deny a permisson to create folders within a share. I want them to be able to create new and modify existing files, just not create folders.
The problem is if I deny the create folders permission, the append data gets denied along with it. So basically this prevents users from...
I'm an IT Professional and I want to start doing some PC side work to supplement my income. I'm not looking to start a full blown business or leave my job. I'm just looking to make a few extra bucks.
I intend on doing home PC work like troubleshooting, wireless/network setups, virus/spyware...
I want everyone's deleted items folder to be purged after 120 days.
If I go to properties of the storage group, Limits, and set "Keep deleted items for" 120 days, is that supposed to permately delete anything older than 120 days from the deleted items folder? Or does it just set how long you...
I have 2 AD Forests and 2 seperate Exchange Organizations, although there is network connectivity between the two.
One AD Forest is Windows 2000 with Exchange 5.5
The other is Windows 2003 with Exchange 2003
Is it possible to acheive calendar sharing in this scenario?
