Steve,
Don't know where you came from, by thank you for all that informative information (can do that? use the word "information: twice in a row?) :)
Nice to have someone who has some concrete material for us!
That is actually a hot topic too. I get a lot of customers who have been getting angry phone calls from patrons claiming they were overcharged. With the rise of online banking and fraud, customers check their accounts regularly. And for those of you who don't know how it works, when a customer...
It's nothing short of a joke, is what it is. They start throwing numbers around about fines, using scare tactics, etc. Not only that, but there are third party companies (and some processors are doing this to) trying to profit off this confusion by offering "services" to secure your network...
Adam, thanks for that valuable information. I have another question, and I really wish this idiot banks and processors would get there act together to form a cohesive plan about what is going on here.
Now I have an Aloha customer whose bank is telling them they have to have the expiration date...
I am not a reseller of Aloha.. we sell another POS system and provide various IT services, but we have some Aloha clients that have been customers for years, so we still support them. But I have been working with Aloha on and off for about 5 years now.
We could go on about customer service woes for hours!!!! (at least I could). But I agree with you, customers that just refuse to understand how things work, but get frustrated when changes (especially those involving money) need to made, then irrationally take it out on the dealer/service...
LOL. Have you forgotten how well some of these customers can hold out?
Customer doesn't want or see the need to upgrade...
AND
Uses a separate machine to processor credit cards. We have a few customers that do this, and CISP compliance is a non-issue for them. The close out a check to the...
Can anyone tell what needs to be checked to change from cashier to server banking in Aloha 4.2. Remember that version? There are disorganized check boxes everywhere! LOL.
Thanks
I had this same experience once too, Adam. I don't even remember the circumstances how I found this out, but a customer had a 4.2 key get fried in a power outage, and when the new key arived, it would work with 5.0, even though he did not purchase an upgrade (at least it would open Aloha...
Can anyone tell me an official (or round-about) way to determine how far an exisitng Aloha system can be upgraded within a specific version?
For example, I had customer on version 5.2.36 (with a key that was issued a few years ago) who was having some issues, so we decided that maybe a software...
Yeah, that does help, thanks. Funny you should mention not knowing anything about it, because I had the same thing happen. To make a long story short, I did a minor upgrade for a customer to correct some RFCed issues, and there we're problems with E-card afterward. As I know nothing about, I...
I can tell you from experience that Radiant is fiercely loyal to it's dealer network. Ibertech/Aloha Technologies was too, but not quite to the degree that Radiant has been. In the cases I've seen, when someone complains to Radiant about their dealer (which happens more often than I'd like to...
LOL @ amnesty. Here is the defintion of the word amnesty: The word "amnesty" means forgiveness, pardon or leniency.
What exactly are you "forgiving" people for? That the software you distributed, in some cases as little as two years ago, requires an expensive upgrade for something you failed to...
Though I haven't worked with Posi in years, I wanted to share your sentiments. I got some interesting advice from a business owner some years ago--he said "Anytime someone is offering something for free, I get a feeling similar to when something is crawling up the back of my leg." LOL. Loose...
Thanks for the posts guys.
Regarding fixing the issue, Aloha1, when I called the customer back, he wasn't all that interested in fixing it for the moment, more interested in a permanent solution (I kind of expected that). So I never got to see if what you suggested worked or not. I figured I...
I never tested this, but does anyone know if the FOH terminals are up by the time the BOH fires winhook?
Got a store that had some problems with their frequent diner data, for the like second time in 3 years. As somewhat of a weak backup procedure, I was going to have winhook copy the...
I remember one of the companies I worked for that sold and repair the ICL units, years back... and as you suggested, I would suspect it is quite old. We also worked on the DTS machines, 2100 series, but I believe they ran on a modified software interface.
Another thing you might want to do is...
