InDesign spell check - added words fall out of dictionary
An alternative might be to create an external user dictionary and import it into InDesign. Just a thought...- clrblue

K.... fixed the last weird issue, too... It seems that I when I had placed the "Heading 1" text on a hidden layer (so it wouldn't be seen -- I already have the Chapter title on the Master page and don't need it twice), I had also placed the text frame outside of the margins where the rest of the...- clrblue

Hmmm... so now I've realized that the way the table of contents has been arranged isn't in any order whatsoever... lesser headings and major headings are all over the place, in no particular manner. Any thoughts on this?- clrblue

OK, well I got the "applies random styles" bit taken care of... apparently InDesign doesn't like "small caps" in paragraph styles on a table of contents. As soon as I remove that setting, the problem disappears... but if I set it back, everything gets all messed up. BIZARRE. But this is here...- clrblue
