    Try outlining the font. Type - Create Outlines. This should work as the type is then vectorized and not a font which is getting confused rasterizing with the transparency on output. . . I think!

    Try spliting the column in two (Table - split cell vertically) and then (Table - merge) the two cells in front of it. This will give you the cell aligned different and smaller than the rest in the column. Does this help?

    Try putting the type on a separate layer above the transparency.

    I think this is what you want to do . . Try selecting the frame which holds your placed Illustrator graphic with the black tool. Make it a clipping path via Object-Clipping path. Then with the black tool still selected (the path will be assigned to the graphic) get the sub-menu from the image...
